What am I ignorant of here?  How can you load the operating system or programs without a drive bay for a DVD R/W

Optical bays are becoming obsolete.  Think how often you use them.  This case is for those looking for a more clean build.  OSes can be installed via USB flash.  You can use a USB Optical drive for those rare occasions you need to use optical.

Is the side panel window glass or acrylic?

Definately not glass since the 2016 version will have tempered glass panels (both sides will be tempered glass.

Goto youtube and check out Hardware Canucks channel and the CES show.  They got a blurb about the new tempered glass panels.

Question 3

Planning on buying this, how good is the airflow?

Reasonable, for my purposes. I'd recommend aio on the CPU and GPU. There's a company making a modified front panel with mesh for airflow if you're concerned about it and want the option later. Think they're called modmymods or something along those lines. I'd recommend the gunmetal if it won't clash with your set up. Cheers

will this fit a alienware x51 r2 motherboard cuz its a mini itx im really looking forward to getting this but i want to make sure it fits?

Absolutely yes, this case will fit small motherboard, medium ITX and large size gaming motherboard. All you gotta do is line up the screw hole stud do the size of your motherboard it comes with it the stud.

What color fans does this case came come with? 
Some pictures indicate white fan blades, but the silver case shows black blades. 
It also appears the glass window version only comes with black fans.

Mine came with white fans. I have the Satin Black version. They are decent for stock fans.

Question 6

Are the included fans easy to disassemble for custom painting? The white doesn't go well with my set up

typically fans are a little difficult to take apart, i would recommend buying fans that match the color scheme you want. there are some guides on taking fans apart on youtube that should guide you. worse case you mess up a fan taking it apart only to find out you should of bought some others or replacements.

Are the features really worth the price tag?

On a feature front, this case offers nothing you can't get in a significantly cheaper alternative from a functionality perspective.  The reason for going with the Phanteks Evolv is because you want:
- a really well built case
- a minimalist look/design that just says awesome (subjective)
- support for a custom water cooling solution
- support for various fan configurations
- excellent cable management support
- easy to disassemble for cleaning dust filters, swapping out parts, etc

and because you just love the look of the case.  Be warned though that the paint feels very delicate and scratching the case is very easy if you aren't really careful.  That is my one complaint.

Can you have the pump mount and the 3.5" drive at the same time?

Yeah! I've had mine for about a year now, i have a 2.5" ssd, 2 3.5" hard drives and i also have a full custom watercooling loop, the pump has a spot between the 3.5" bays and the power supply, with plenty of room.

Will this case fit a 12.01" x 10.71" Motherboard? On Phanteks' site it says it will support E-ATX up to 264mm wide.

Yes it will fit any motherboard that isnt bigger than an E-ATX...  Which is a pretty big board.

Question 10

Does the fan hub also work for four-pin fans? I notice they only have three, but many of my case fans are PWM and have the four pins.
