I'm replacing a Samsung HD204UI 5400RPM 32Mb 2TB. Can this item be used as a replacement HD? It's also 3.5IN but will the cables fit?

The cables should fit just fine. Both drives use Sata connections. Just pull the cables off your current HDD, put the new Seagate in and reconnect the cables and you should be all set. Keep in mind, though, that you won't be able to boot off the new Seagate until it's partitioned, formatted and has an operating system installed onto it.

Is this hard drive good for hardcore gaming?

It is good as a storage drive.  For "hardcore gaming" you want an SSD.  I am taking the term "hardcore gaming" to mean at or near top of the line hardware.  The speed difference in a mechanical drive like this and even a low end SSD is staggering, however this hard drive is a very good mechanical drive and its speed is at the top of the charts for those.  Most people who use SSD's for games dont put all games on it, as not all games really benefit.  An example would be something like Total War series.  They benefit massively because of notoriously long load times.  For something like TF2, where load times are already pretty fast, you would want that on your mech drive to save space for more critical games.

Is this compatible with HPE-400f running Windows 7?

Yes it should be.

According to a link I found on hp for your model you have sata I in the HPE-400f

SATA III specifications provide backward compatibility to function on SATA I and SATA II ports. However, the maximum speed of the drive will be slower due to the lower speed limitations of the port.

Windows 7 supports all 3 version of sata of course :) enjoy it's a good drive i own many of them.

Will this work in a Mac G5 Desktop?

Presumeably, but I have not installed it in my antique G5 tower.

Ordinarily SATA will operate at its max speed as well as previous slower speeds, just as USB 3.0 items will also work at USB 2.0 speeds.

Question 5

I plugged in all the cables correctly but my computer does not recognize that the drive is there. NOTE: my OS is running off a separate SSD. What do I do?

Look in the Help feature of your operating system. Look for a subject such a "Assign a drive letter". You are looking for a way to set up a new drive. You may also need to format the drive after the computer recognizes it.

But you may want to first check that the drive is listed as a device. Go to the Control Panel, Devices and Printers, Device Manager. You should see the drive under "Disk drives". If it is not there, there may be a problem with the drive or with your computer.

Yes, this can be used as an external drive in a compatible external enclosure. Just be sure that your external case accommodates the SATA interface and will allow 2TB.

If the Del Inspirion 560 has any sata ports then yes. However be advised hard drives over 2TB when used as the main drive may require additional drivers or newer versions of windows (Win7sp1 or newer) for installation.

Probably, yes.  IF your present computer will support a drive of this capacity.  Not enough info given to answer better.  Consult your users manual, consult the BIOS if you know how to do so safely, and go on line to your computer's manufacturer web site and perhaps can find the answer regarding any capacity limitations.

Are their any compatibility issues running this drive in a Hp (Approx. 5 years old) with Vista Home premium installed?

If you have the 32 bit version of vista, you will need additional configuration and an add on program to access the entire drive capacity. I think the 32 bit OS is limited to 4 GB of memory addressing. Also you need to verify your motherboard has sata ports to connect the drive. If it's 5 years old it may have both IDE and SATA ports so you may need to access system BIOS to enable SATA if it is not already enabled. Research your motherboard specifications for more information, and check your Vista version to see if it's a 64 bit OS first. You can add a PCI SATA interface card if you don't have SATA ports available, and there is a program available to gain access to full drive capacity but it probably won't be just plug and play with a 32 bit OS.

I installed this product and the windows Vista operating system and cant reconnect to internet. Is there a certain driver I need to install to make his work?

The drive has nothing to do with internet connection.take the drive out and see if it will work.  If so, it may be a address allocation which does not make sense. Vista may be the problem.
