I agree with the above comment.
These Drives are running cool and quiet.
Cheaper on electricity with 5x6Tb than 15x2Tb!
SAS connectors are a must! They are not the same as SATA!
SATA is two connectors  (Power and Data) SAS has them on one common connector.
I'm using a 24 drive Adaptec Raid card to manage several Raid 6 partitioins with my Dell WorkStation, in Hot Swapable Drive enclosures.
Have over 100TB in Raid and 10TB external drives attached.

Question 2

Attempting to create a media server. Would this work for that kind of storage?

As long as your Raid card has the same same or better bit rate/second as your HD you'd be OK.
If you set them up as RAID 1 you'd get the best performance with a 12Gb/Sec or faster RAID card. I only use ADAPTEC cards (6 of them in total), on my backup computers (2x 2 raid cards in each) and work stations (2X one in each).
With a 12 Gb/Sec raid card and two 6Tb SAS drives set up as Raid 0 you should have no problems viewing 4K Video!
For Video editing you'd be better off with 2 1 or 2 TB solid state drives set up as raid 0 and enough: 16, 32, 64Gb Ram.
I'm running 192GB ram(24x 8Gb sticks) in my Dell Work Station and never run short of memory!

Are these drives refurbished? Are they still under 5 years Seagate warranty?
