Does this drive come with software to support the drive including drivers?

This comes as just the drive, no cables, and no CDs. No drivers are needed for the drive. If you are using this to replace a failed drive in a laptop computer, just use the instructions in the laptop's manual to put the drive in the laptop and then use the laptop's recovery disc to reinstall Windows.

A new hard drive doesn't come with an OS. You'll need to install an OS after you've installed the new drive into your computer.

Is changing hard drives just a quick change out or will the new one need to be programmed before it runs windows 8 and the other programs on my laptop ?

The process is fairly straight forward, the drive doesn't have to be "programmed". Once you physically install the hard drive in your laptop, you'll then need to boot to your Windows 8 DVD (or bootable USB drive, etc.). When the setup asks where you'd like to install Windows, your new empty hard drive should be one of the available destinations.

This drive should work. You will need to re-install your OS, hopefully you have a back up disc.

Is this compatible with XBOX  360s?

Not sure.  I bought it to replace my HDD in my PS3.  Both consoles are suppose to be really easy to replace meaning all you have to do is buy an notebook internal drive, install, and allow the console to format it to its requirements then enjoy.  I had to research it to make sure and that was the case for my PS3.  Look up replacing your HDD in the Xbox and you'll find the necessary info you need.

I have a laptop that is telling me that the hard drive is failing tests and that I should replace it, would this hard drive fit in my existing device? (see below for specs)  Also, is there anything else somewhat comparable in price that I should be looking at instead?

This hard drive should work for your needs, it's a good drive but you may be able to find a better deal. As long as you get either a Seagate our western digital you should be good. Most other manufacturers have a higher failure rate than these two brands. If you use your laptops for gaming our hard drive intensive applications you should probably check out a 10000 rpm our ssd. Will this hard drive work with my Toshiba Satellite M645-S4114?  From what I have found out the one I have which is a Toshiba MK6465GSX is a SATA3.0Gb/s 2.5". I think it is going bad.

I have the drive installed in my older Mac (backup) which I use occasionally. I am not familiar with the Toshiba family. One point to keep in mind is the drive thickness and your drive form factor. ie. Mounting bracket in your notebook. If the drive is too thin, you may need to modify the bracket to prevent the drive from slapping. You should be able to locate a PDF to dis-assemble the unit if you do not have an easy access panel. Another thought; Depending the age, you should consider an SSD (also dependent on the thickness). You will easily increase 2x performance. Also, double check your supported SATA speed vs the drive speed. I always favored I/O speed vs battery life for my notebooks, several models of IBM thinkpad & Lenovo and most recently Mac Retina.  I run Windows as a VM. I hope this helps.
