Is this hard drive 5400 or 7200 RPM?

This has 5 1TB platters running at 5400. Despite the rpm I get decent speed on it probably because I kept the block size quite high (2MB) since I only use it for storage of large files. But on this block size, when storing small files and documents it will be slow down and will take up huge space (even a 1KB file will take up 2MB). So depending on the usage you can optimize for speed or storage.
If you want 7400 rpm and higher DTR go with the STDA4000100, but the max for this model is 4TB.

can you use this on ps4 pro?

I use it on my PS4 original (I assume it should work on pro as well). I just formatted it on ExFAT filesystem instead of NTFS to get it working and also due to the file system's portability.

Yes. It will have to be entirely formatted for it but yes it will work.

Is this item "new", or is it re-certified / reconditioned?

I haven't read anything that would indicate that they are not new. I have 4 of these. One for each computer. I wish I had thought of using these years ago.

I want to store movies on in in mp4 format and then connect it directly to my Smart TV via the USB port as I do thumb drives; Is it compatible to a Smart TV?

These drives are compatible with anything that can read USB storage. However, you should make sure the USB port on your TV is capable of providing enough power to the drive because the drive does not use an A/C adapter. It gets its power from the USB port. My Seagate 5TB USB drive works with my Samsung and LG TV's and it will probably work with most current Smart TV's. If in the unlikely chance your TV can not power it, then you can purchase a powered USB hub and connect the drive via that.

Hi I plugged in this drive to my usb 3.0 port but it doesn't read the drive.  Does anyone know why?

A few things to try: when you plug it in doors the hard drive spin up?

Try different USB ports on the computer (could be a bad USB port or a port that's disabled for some reason)

Try if you can a different cable (could be a bad cable)

If that doesn't work well you might just have a bad hard drive. Send it back for another one.
