Overall Review: I have only heard the fan spin up once actually, and this bad boy is powering a GTX 760, 4 sticks of DDR3, 5 HDDs, 1 optical, and a 3770K OCed to 4Ghz. It takes BF3 set to Ultra across the board and a series of busy scenes to get the active cooling to engage. Now, I admit, I do not know exactly *how* this unit engages it's active cooling. I do not know if it is looking at the load that is under, or if it approaches/surpasses a certain temperature. I have a HAF X, under Posi-pressure, so I am inclined to say that it is the unit temp that engages the fan. As for the cables, I do have this in a HAF X, so that certainly doesn't help. But cases have only just been getting bigger. The HDD cable I wanted/had to use was just barely long enough, same for the SATA cable I ran to optical drive. The PCIe cable was also just barely long enough (it doesn't look very neat). But all of these cables would have been too short if I had installed the unit fan-down (as I initially tried to do). The HAF X has a vent for PSU fans that I like to take advantage of; give it a dedicated cold-air supply. But this simply wasn't going to work. I could buy extensions - and already use them for the 24pin and 8pin CPU - but for the expense in that, I would rather just make a set of sleeved cables for my case. The unit was very well packed. Velvet bag, inside of closed-cell foam box, cables bagged in a reusable bag, etc. The only gripe I can offer is that the external packaging came without any kind of seal on it; cellophane or tape. You could just pop the box right open after taking it out of the Newegg shipping package. There was no sign of any sealing tape/sticker ever being on the box, so I'm guessing it's normally shrink-wrapped. This seems like it is becoming a more common occurrence with Newegg; opening a product for one reason or another. First package I've received where this had happened, but it is being mentioned more often on various forums. Luckily, everything was there and in "new" condition. I did not feel the need to contact them about it, but I do hope they read this. If they want to open something off their shelves, that is their choice. Just don't turn around and sell it as "new". All in all, nothing worth knocking an egg off for. It's a solid PSU, and I have no doubt that it will make it to the end of it's hefty warranty, and then some.

Pros: Seasonic quality - they really are the best in the business when it comes to power supplies. This is my second Seasonic unit (first was an S12 430W) and everything about this PSU screams quality. It's whisper quiet. It comes well packed with everything but the kitchen sink. It comes in a velvet bag like a bottle of Crown Royal, and includes a rather nice and very well laid out supply of cables in their own container. Started up the first time without issue, and it's good to have a 100% modular unit to get rid of the rat's nest of wires that non modular PSUs leave behind.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Cons: None so far. I always choose SeaSonic for all my new builds. If you are spending hundreds or thousands on new components don't go cheap on the power supply! You wouldn't throw 87 pump gas into a brand new Bugatti Veyron.

Pros: Zero issues after 18 months ownership. Originally in a socket 775 system, recently transferred to a Z77 rig with two GTX 460's in SLI. 750 Watts is plenty for two modern video cards with single GPUs. Modular cables with plenty of SATA power cables/outputs - more than enough for my mobo and the number of drives I use. Build quality is excellent. No issues with coil whine or fan noise. If the fan does spin up I can't tell as by then the video card fans would be producing more noise of their own.

Cons: None for me.

Overall Review: Got this in a Newegg sale after reading Johnny Guru's excellent review of the unit. He gave it a 9.5/10

Pros: Bought this to replace an OCZ Modxstream 700w power supply that died and I'm happy to report that it's been running great for about a year now in a quad core system with 2 high end graphics cards. Fully modular, no coil whine on mine, whisper quiet fan thanks to high efficiency- high efficiency means less power wasted as heat and this power supply is cool enough that the fan will actually stop running when my computer idles. Awesome!

Cons: None really, this thing is fantastic.

Overall Review: All my main machines will run Seasonic from now on.

Cons: Dear Seasonic, NO crushed Velvet cases, NO PSU modular carrying cases (seriously WTCrap?), and YES to higher quality products. I've never had a power supply die on me less than 1 month from purchase. Only when I decided to go all out and get a super expensive power supply, spend twice as much as tytpical, that it dies. Seasonic, use higher quality capacitors and components, and drop the 1,000,000% asine modular power supply carrying case and black crushed velvet bags. Even the nerdiest of nerdy will not be carrying around extra power supply cases for a seasonic brand PSU, nobody needs it. I know, I know, your Ivy League Educated marketing guy said it would be good for business, but you know what's even better for business? PSU's that work solid. And if you want to go above and beyond, become a super service company, do some nice advanced RMA instead of this waiting around blanoney. I pay top dollar, I expect high service.

Overall Review: First one died less than 1 month into it. Power was fluttering on and off non stop, scary, though it was destroying all my components, but they were okay.

Overall Review: The only bad review states there is a shortage of cables. This psu comes with (2) 4pin cpu, and (4) 6/8 pin gpu. One reviewer suggested that if you have an I7 that needs an 8 pin, you only have (3) 8 pin left. This is incorrect because both 4 pin connectors together fit into an 8 pin for cpu leaving you (4) 8 pin for gpu. The other reviewer simply used the wrong cable for his cpu. This whole thing is only an issue if running 2 really high end graphics cards in crossfire that require (2) 8 pin each. The most power connectors you will need/ cpu core is (1) so in sli or crossfire (4) is more then enough. Crossfire maxes out at 4 cores and I think SLI does also. Long story short, you have enough cables if you use them correctly. Unless your running Dual 5870's with like 20 hard drives and 5 blueray drives, this psu will have more then enough power for all your needs.

Pros: Of course, the efficiencies and quality of this brand set it apart from all others. I had read about the packaging (velvet bag for the PSU and nylon bag for the wires) but until you see it for yourself you can't appreciate the extra lengths SeaSonic has gone to. I have one of the largest (if not THE largest case - Cooler Master ATCS 840) and opted to mount the PSU on the bottom, but still had no difficulty with cables being too short or too few in number. SeaSonic really put some thought behind this product!

Overall Review: I did read some of the other newegg reviews on this item before purchasing, but fortunately I also read technical reviews and so I realized that there isn't a better PSU available. If I really had to I could use two of these PSUs in the ATCS 840 case and once the Nvidia GF100s are out I may have to, but even taking into consideration that I have an SLI system (8800 GTs) with six HDs and seven cooling fans (3x230mm and 4x120mm) this PSU delivers all the power I need.
