Can this camera be mounted upside down? IE: on the ceiling?

I can't see why not. I mounted mine on a wall surface up high.
The mounting bracket allows some adjustment as well.

Can this camera be set up to record continuously either to the SD Card or an external hard drive?

It can be set up to record on either or both an micro SD card and an external hard drive (attached to your computer). You can set up a profile/schedule of when you want it to record...much like your can program an adjustable thermostat in your home.

You can also program it to take pictures when motion is detected and email the pics. This is a feature that I was most interested in. I have not been able to get the sensitivity on it right yet. If you have it inside the house pointing out a window, it will catch motion inside the house because of the reflections in the glass. Other times it has missed the motion outside like a car pulling into the driveway. However, the email feature works so I do get pics emailed to me when it detects motion.

Question 3

Does this camera have an option for wireless Ad Hoc?  ie.  Wireless connect directly from smartphone or computer to camera without the use of a router?

Hi John,  I see nothing in the menus allowing Ad Hoc. Options are Wireless On/Off, WEP or WPA, DHCP or Fixed, DNS, and HTTP & RTSP port assignment numbers. And a few other things, but nothing I would recognize as eliminating the router. I am running Linux and I can tell you this camera needs Active X (Only avaible in Windows) to access settings and full resolution images over wireless. I have to use a "Mobile View" mode. This streams 640X360 jpg's to a browser with no audio. Hope this helps.

Is this product compatible with Blue Iris 4?

It's not a bad camera. The software is decent and the picture quality is surprisingly good, best in well lit situations. I have a comparable camera that cost me $600 and the main difference is image quality. You pay for what you get. If you need hi-res, might want to look elsewhere but this cam does a good job for basic surveillance. Axis and others make some nice cams buy they are PRICEY!!!

No monthly charge. I set it up these cameras in my house using only my Android phone, and the Android app works pretty well.
