Great Product 10/3/2018 11:06:07 AM

Pros: This tuner worked perfectly until this year, just over 10 years.
I could stream two difference channels, plus two "sub-channels" on those channels at a time.
Easy to use.

Cons: Every few years I had to replace the power adapter. The failure would be the system would work fine, then one recording a second channel it would stop talking on the network.
Needs better diagnostics to inform one when the issue is power or hardware. That said, it is a decade old.

Overall Review: I used this with my Linux based MythTV system.
I would recommend this product and manufacturer.
I am going to purchase the latest version.
The final failure, it no longer can change channels without crashing/being lost to the network.
Install somewhere accessible. It will require attention every 2 or 3 years.
It does require a DHCP server on the network to provide it an IP address. I suggest setting it's MAC address to a specific IP.

Mostly happy 2/11/2013 12:25:34 PM

Pros: I've had the HD Homerun in my network for a couple of years now, and for the most part it has been trouble free. It's very convenient to be able to connect to it from any device on the network.

Cons: There have been some minor issues, but the biggest problem is that the tuner seems to lose the signal fairly easily. I have consistently found that the tuner on the 2 TV sets I have has been able to display the picture without any issues when the HD Homerun is heavily pixelated and choppy. it has nothing to do with my network, it works fine most of the time, but if it is windy outside the reception on the HD home run turns bad, and we have to switch to the TV tuner.

Overall Review: On Rare occasions over the past year, the HD Homerun has needed to be power cycled to restore function.

Great device 3/21/2012 8:42:54 AM

Pros: I use this to feed digital antenna signal into my computer for DVR purposes, and to watch live programming on my laptop anywhere in the house. It's on the same network switch as the computer that is doing the recording, and that works great with Hi-Def content.

Cons: As soon as the signal leaves the network switch and hits my wireless network (802.11g), I run into bandwidth issues for hi-def content. I'm not sure if my network configuration is to blame or if the thing is just a b/w beast. I have a point-to-point wireless network setup between the aforementioned switch and the rest of my network, and I have a separate wireless network (different frequency, ssid, etc) that I use to deliver content to mobile devices and laptops in the house. Seems like I have it as optimized as I can get it. And, hd still suffers.

HOMER 9/28/2011 7:14:49 PM

Pros: Excellant reception, dual tuner that can use seperate antennas or 1 antenna that can be split. Great support from Silicon Dust and lot of AVS forum support. Open source with lots of DVR software support and apps. Need I say more.

Cons: No cable, telco, satelite encrypted tuning. For that you'll need their latest model.

Overall Review: Nice price drop too.

Works great with media center pc 6/25/2011 7:15:12 AM

Pros: Full HD TV without digital cable box. Wireless streaming on my laptop and via desktop to LCD tv at the same time (2 tuners!!). Full dolby digital sound.

Cons: No cablecard.... Might have to buy new model that is coming out..

Overall Review: My first box died after about 10 months. Got a replacement from HDHomeRun without issues (about 2 week turnover). Getting great image quality into my media center pc with full HD and dolby digital sound!!! The driver support in the beginning for windows 7 ultimate was not perfect. But seems now (June 2011) very stable. Like that I can watch TV in high def on my laptop without any wires!! Would definitely buy again.

Good concept, marginal tuner 3/6/2011 8:43:10 AM

Pros: Integrates easily with MythTV. Network connectivity easier than separate tuner card.

Cons: For OTA, depending on your location, etc., etc., the tuner may be inadequate.
I have reception issues, possibly multipath, with stations that work just fine with my tv and with a $25 converter box, using same antenna.

Overall Review: Highly recommended for OTA if you have a strong clear signal. But don't assume that just because your existing tuner works then the HDHomeRun will as well.
