Engineered specifically for near-silent operation and optimum cooling, the Antec Performance P180 cabinet sets new standards in silent case design. Two separate chambers isolate the power supply and CPU into separate cooling zones with a maximum of five configurable fans. Cold rolled steel construction offers a solid base for busy components, minimizing “buzz” and vibration with silicone grommets on the attachments.
The sleek ATX mid tower is compatible with both Micro and Standard ATX motherboards. For further noise reduction, even when it’s holding its maximum eleven drives, the case has three-layer sound-deadening panels. To keep things cool during the hottest action, it has one 120mm Tricool fan at the rear with 3-speed control to synchronize quiet with cooling, and one 120mm TriCool Fan at the top.
The lower chamber also has another 120mm TriCool Fan. The drive bays include four external 5.25" bays, one external 3.5" bay, and six internal 3.5" bays. The front of the chassis has two USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire Port, and audio (I/O) ports, for convenient connectivity and performance.
Pros:
Very high quality
Long lifespan
Still as relevant today as when it was first made
Cons: None if you want a large case
Overall Review:
Bought this case back around 2006......it's still in use. My first processor used in this case was an Athlon 3200+ ...
It it's lifetime it's had (8) 15,000 RPM SCSI Disks, and untold variety of IDE drives, a CD Burner, A DVD burner and then finally, a Blue-Ray Burner. Looking at this case and thinking about what's been installed in it is like looking at snap-shots of the computer industry over a decade.
When the case was full of SCSI drives it weighed in at around 70 pounds....I remember grunting every time I took it outside to blow the dust out of it.
Remember the Sound Blaster AWE64? It was in here at one time. So was the SB128. It still has a 1.4 MB Floppy drive installed in it.
Remember the Antec Phantom 350 fanless power supply? It outlived one of those. It also outlived an Antec Phantom 500. The case is on it's 3rd power supply now.
Tomorrow it's getting a second water cooler (it's outlived one already along with countless CPU fans).
Remember IDE cables? It's had them too. It really is quite the case. Oh, and it's also a very quiet case.
I think it's probably older then I think - probably closer to 12 years now.....One day I'll put yet another new system together and it will still be....in this case.
Pros: big. fits stuff. heavy - i like heavy cases.
Cons: could use more fan mounts.
Pros:
-Nice appearance
-Dust Filters
Cons:
-Weighs a ridiculous amount
-3/4 fans went out within 6 months
-Front panel went out within 6 months as well
Overall Review: You can spend a nice amount on a case. When you spend 150.00+, you expect a darn good case. What I got was a heavy paper weight. Antec fans are horrible. Customer support is horrible. Could not even attempt to get a replacement as Antec never got back to me after trying to order a front panel for 6+ months. Don't buy into the 'hype'. Antec is garbage.
Comments: Original fans had bearing failure at about 3.5 years - replacement was easy since they are standard 120mm.
Pros: Excellent Case Design, simple to work on, great for people with OCD who want the case to have very few wires showing.
Cons: It is a bit heavy and I'm no muscle man. My house has a bit of dust so the front filters get dusty fast.
Overall Review: I'm not sure why there are negative reviews on this case. Been running this computer since 2008 and it runs flawless. Case is silent with fans at low, temps are well below what I used to have. And it's built with quality I compare to a Mercedes-Benz. Possibly the later batches were of poor quality? The only defect I've found is that the magnet fell of the door, since it's not sealed like the other, it's just glued on. Big deal. Lock works, wires hide easily and if you research and have small hands this case is a dream to work with.
Comments: I found this case about three years ago at Silent PC Review, and I still haven't seen anything better for my current needs and tastes. I'm pleased to see that Antec and Newegg are still selling it and a few more like it, such as the P280, another SPCR recommendation.
Pros: This case is relatively quiet, with great airflow. Well built for the most part.
Cons: The door 'lock' is absolutely terrible. There is a small plastic peg that protrudes with a metal washer that contacts a magnet in order to keep the door closed. The door works well enough, but for best airflow I leave my door wide open. This exposes the 'locking peg' the all sorts of dangers. I have broken the thing off on both of my cases. ... This is obviously avoidable if you put the case out of the way, but in my case it just doesn't work out well.
