Silverstone's Decathalon series PSUs are designed to deliver maximum power simply and reliably. Instead of bumping up cost and complexity by using multiple +12V rails the DA1200 has 1 extremely robust 90A rail. The Active PFC and >80% efficiency rating ensure that no power is wasted.

The power connectors are fully modular. This lets you use only the connections you need. Any leftover cables can be put into the handy carry bag, so you can find them when you upgrade. The cables are all sheathed to de-clutter the inside of the case, enhancing airflow.

There is a 135mm fan on the bottom of the PSU to move extreme amounts of air to keep everything cool. The back panel is a honeycomb mesh broken only by a switch, and the power plug for virtually unrestricted airflow. Go ahead; build the system of your dreams, the DA1200 can handle it.

  • newegg ATX12V and EPS12V Compatible Compatible with the ATX12V (ATX 2.3) and EPS12V standards, the Silverstone DA1200 provides maximum power stability to drive the latest Intel and AMD processors as well as other components for desktop and server computer systems.
  • newegg 1200W Maximum Power A maximum power of 1200W delivers safe, reliable output for even the most extreme computer systems.

Pros: plenty of power, modular, powerful enough to power:Q6600@3.6 ghz,4gb1800mhz ram, evga 790 ultra,8 120mm fans, 2 raptors and 1 500 gb storage drive, two evga gtx 280 for the win editions in sli oced to 738/1512/2600.also very quiet.
samsung optical drive, matrix orbital lcd screen, zalman six fan controller.

Cons: my tri sli dreams we're crushed when I realized that this 400 dollar psu is not compatible with three gtx 280's because of the lack of a third 8 pin pci e connector!

Overall Review: I was forced to the buy the thermaltake toughpower 1200w psu which has 3 pci-e connectors and is certified for tri 280's by nvidia.. visit for certified psu's

Stay away - quality control / support problem 7/18/2008 3:55:45 AM

Pros: Looks great on paper. Lots of modular connectors.

Cons: Arrived defective. Silverstone still has not answered my e-mail. I had to call them 3 days to get somone to answer the phone, then that person said they had emailed me. Whatever- for 380 bucks Egg customers can do better. Thank The FSM that New Egg is working with me on the return. Otherwise I would be out 80 bucks for shiping etc. Everyone has a bad part now and again but poor support = I am not buying anything from them again.

Overall Review: Props to the Egg. Thumbs down to Silverstone for poor QC and unresposive support. When you sell "premium" products people expect more.

Pros: Excellent power delivery at all levels, great design, using this on a Intel D5400SX with dual Qx9775 CPU, dual BFG Geforce 9800GX2 that have been modified with the EVGA Hydro Copper 18 Solid Copper Waterblocks, and koolance CPU 340 waterblocks for the CPU utilizing dual Thermaltake 760i watercooling systems.

Power is continous, this psu takes whatever you throw at it and begs for more. Overclocking is a breeze with this psu with no issues at all!

Cons: none

Overall Review: Wish they made a 1500w big brother to the 1200w

Impressive 4/25/2008 8:31:55 PM

Pros: Finally, I have enough power. This thing gives my system everything it needs. The 12 volt rail never goes below 12 volts (idle is 12.16v). It's also much quieter than my old, less impressive, PSU. Fully modular, so I only have the cables I need, and nothing loose to disrupt airflow.

Cons: Enormous with a price to match it. I had to take my top case fan out. Plan to get a new case soon anyway.

Overall Review: I used to have an Apevia Beast 680 watt PSU. I kept getting BSOD's from the video driver in any OS when using graphic-intense games. Changed out motherboard, memory, processor, and RMA'd my video card. Turned out that the so called "Beast" couldn't handle my video card. I currently have an AMD X2 5200+ OC'd to 3.0GHz on an Asus Crosshair with 2x1Gb Corsair XMS2 CL4 memory. I have an eVGA 8800GTX Superclocked video card. 2x WD 2500KS in RAID 0. Also some other little stuff (fans, floppy, etc...). Soon to upgrade to eVGA 790i w/ Q6700 and 2x2Gb OCZ DDR3-1600. Also adding 2 more 8800GTX's.

Silverstone rocks 3/20/2008 11:00:05 PM

Pros: Quiet. Lots of power. Silverstone customer service is outstanding.

Cons: Trying to power a dual Opteron, 8GB ram, 2x8800GTX-OC, 3xSATA drives, 12 case fans, and assorted peripherals. Slightly too much for the DA1200..? Or perhaps I got supplies from a bad lot. This tells me that Silverstone QC might need attention.

Overall Review: I have written two other reviews on this power supply. This is a followup. Thanks to the Newegg comment system, Silverstone took note of my problems with the two previous PSs and offered to replace the DA1200 with a ZM1200 which has about 5 more amps. I applaud Silverstone for pursuing me and offering an alternative. More companies should be like SS in this regard. They handled the entire situation with tact and grace and have solidified me as a customer. BTW: This ZM1200 has been running flawlessly for over three months now. I recommend it highly.

Plenty of Juice 1/21/2008 7:27:16 PM

Pros: Single 12V rail rocks, modular, tons of connections, quiet. I can't hear this over my other parts.

Cons: Huge, so plan accordingly. Speedfan shows the 12V rail a little low but well within +\-5% and BIOS shows it a little high again within tolerances, so take it for what you will. Neither are good solutions for an accurate measurement unless you want to drop 50k on professional equipment to do some real number crunching.

Overall Review: I have had this PS for 2 months now and not one problem, plenty of juice for now and later for add-ons/upgrades. 2 8800GTX heavily OC'ed, C2Duo heavily OC'ed a couple of raptors and a few other HD's, 12 case fans, plenty of LED's and several 15" bulbs and a few other assorted things and this big b@stard just looks at me and laughs.
