Is this what i will need to place an SSD into an Optical Drive Bay ?

Yes.  HOWEVER, there is more than one size.  I used this one to drop an SSD into my early 2009 iMac.  If you're putting it into a laptop, I suggest removing the drive ant measuring the hight.  This one is 12.7mm (1/2") and another size is 9.5mm (3/8")

It replaces any standard optical drive to my understanding. You will have to take our your disk reader, take the face plat off of it, put it onto this caddy, and slide it back in, where it plugs into your SATA port the Optical drive usually plugs into

Will this caddy work with this model - Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E545 20B20011US 15.6-Inch Laptop?

Sadly, I can't find the information in the E545 User Guide or Hardware Maintenance Manual. (I downloaded both from Lenovo Support.) If this is a newer computer (purchased in 2013), then it probably has a smaller optical drive. (Source: This adapter doesn't fit in my Lenovo Ideapad P400 Touch, but it fit in my 2009 ACER, which is why I bought it.) Unfortunately, Lenovo kept things VERY generic when talking about the optical drive in your computer.

I hate that I couldn't be of more help, but if someone else knows the answer, I hope they respond to this thread quickly. It's a pain in the butt, but you may have to take your optical drive out and measure the height.

Will this work on an acer aspire E5-574G-52QU?

You will have to measure the height of your DVD ROM drive bay. Take the DVD ROM drive out of your laptop and measure the vertical height. It is going to be either 12.7 mm or 9.5 mm, then order accordingly. Plus it would be good practice for you to be able to take out the DC ROM bay before you order. I have looked at the specs of the Acer PC and I can't determine if this has a DVD ROM bay or not.

It worked with my hp probook.  Probably will will with with your Asus.   Not positive,  but I think it's a standard size.

After this is installed will I be able to open the drive and replace the HDD or will I have to remove the cover again?

It replaces the optical drive, so you would have to take it back out to switch out the hard drive. Although it's fairly quick and easy as you only have to remove one screw and it slides right out.

I am not sure about your specific laptop but It is the same size as a standard dvd drive. You remove the faceplate off the dvd drive and place on this for astesthetics.

SilverStone makes another version of this tray in white.  If you have a low profile laptop, like an ultrabook, go with the white one.  its thinner, made for macs and other various ultrabook form factor laptops.
