Is the yield approximately same or better than the equivalent Brother toner?

I think so. I never used original (Brother) toners. It my affect drum life, but you easily can replace roller on the drum.

Question 2

After installing this I continue to get messages stating that the toner is low and to replace the cartridge.  I knw the cartridge is full, but can't get the machine to recognize this.  Brother is no help - it's not there product.

Any suggestions?

The procedure that I used to clear the error message is as below. It worked for me. Good luck

Step 1
Power on the Brother printer.

Step 2
Open the toner access door located at the front of the printer.

Step 3
Press the "Clear/Back" button.

Step 4
Scroll through the list of toner cartridges until you have located the one that is giving the "Replace Toner" message.

Step 5
Press the "1" button to reset the toner cartridge display.

Step 6
Press the "Clear/Back" button.

Step 7
Close the printer door.

this is so much smaller than the original with my brother 7860...i cant get it in?

When you pull out the old cartridge the drum comes out as well.  You need to remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit and put this in its place.  You then slide the whole assembly back into the printer.
