is this a 6 disc changer? or only 1 at a time

1 at a time, it has no HDMI port either, so good for hooking up to older TV;s maybe not a good choice for something newer.

Does this have a lcd display that shows track number and elapsed time? I want it only for audio playback of cds/mp3s, and it won't be hooked up to a television.

I don't think so, I have given it to a friend and it still works well but there is very little display on it.

Honestly you get what you pay for and this device does not even have a HDMI connector, it uses AV cables. But it does  autoplay  but it holds  only  one disk.
