how wide is the bar? That is critical to my decision on which unit to purchase, and I don't see it on a number of brands/models/

It does have the capability of being mounted to the wall.  However, in reality with the way the i/o connections are set up it isn't overly practical if you are planning on using the HDMI connections . If you plan on using just an audio cable for your inputs it probably isn't a big deal since they are much more flexible.
