Mentions an HDMI connection. Is there any other connections as well optical perhaps?

HDMI connection is available only for sources compatible with ARC (Audio Return Channel).  This includes late model larger TVs and HT systems.

Other connections provided for digital optical and analog audio.  Analog is compatible with music players like iPods and other audio sources.  Digital optical uses the familiar optical cable to connect digital AV sources that have been around for some time.

Is it necessary to have a optical input ?

Depends on your TV.  If you have HDMI (ARC) output on your TV then that is the best hookup as the Soundbar will come on automatically and go off when you turn the TV off.

Next best is the HDMI then the Optical input if you have an optical or just HDMI without the (ARC) output on the TV.  You have to turn the soundbar on manually from the remote. It will go off after a few minutes when the TV is turned off

If you have a fairly recent HD TV you will probably have both or at least optical.

Analog is the third choice and is pretty good but not as good sound quality as the others.

So really, this soundbar will accommodate just about any input that you need.  Very good soundbar for the money. I enjoy mine.

Hi - I'm interested in this product but wonder about the connection. The description indicates a hdmi connection but also mentions optical connection.  My TV has only 1 hdmi port which is now used by my apple tv.  Must I have another hdmi port or can this be used with the optical port that I have open?

We have an older Sony tv.  Will our remote control work to control the volume?

Actually I dont have a Sony TV mine is a Mitsubishi and it works fine with mine. I have to use the cable remote to lower the volume on the tv then use the  soundbar remote to raise the volume on it and it sounds just like surround sound without haveing to use all those speakers in the living room.

Does this or any other sound bar include a headphone jack?  I want to replace an AV reciever/speakers with a sound bar, but does that meansI am out the headphone jack?

If I am looking for a product as a conduit for a young persons iphone to play and boost music in their bedroom, would this be it? Or, is this product more commonly for TV amp?

I use it as both TV amp and stand-alone bluetooth speakers for my android phone.  I think it works great as speakers for a bluetooth enabled phone.  I send Pandora, Tune-In radio and more to it.  I think it has good sound in a small footprint.

Can you wall mount this sound bar?

Yes .  There are instructions on how to wall mount in the owners manual.  I did not wall mount but it seems pretty simple.  I am happy with this purchase.  It provides great sound and no more vibrations when I turn up the volume.

Got this for girlfriend as Christmas present,  she loves it. Uses it for t.v. , record player and bluetooth. And I'm pretty sure she has it on basically all the time.
