You can also attach your MP3 player via the Digital Media Port with a separately sold cradle.

As an added bonus, the STR-DH700 can take advantage of S-AIR technology, which offers wireless connectivity to speakers with the proper separately sold accessories. Sirius Satellite Radio subscribers can also enjoy their favorite programs by simply adding the antenna accessory. Great Receiver for Normal Use 2/10/2010 1:01:10 PM

Pros: Receiver Pros: Inexpensive, good looking, most audio decoders needed, powerful enough for most normal listening situations, works well with Sony blu-ray bdp-s360 in that a single remote controls both, sound is great at normal listening levels, 1080p compatible, Ample HDMI ports for normal use, both Music and Movies sound good, surround sound setup works fairly well

Cons: Receiver Cons: No up-convert - this means other video sources will not up-convert to HDMI so you must run multiple connections to the TV (not a biggie for me but would be nice), menu system is somewhat complex (it takes a while to figure out and will require the manual to not get put away), no Dolby TruHD (not a biggie since my blu-ray decodes this for me), surround sound setup does not configure the subwoofer (small nit but mine needed to be configured manually), system defaults to LARGE speaker type (anyone with a subwoofer needs to set type to SMALL to redirect crossover to subwoofer), speaker terminals do not hold speaker wire firmly (speaker wire slips out very easily with a slight pull), no manual crossover setting for subwoofer (this is done automatically via the surround sound setup)

Overall Review: I just got a Sony STR-700 free with my Klipsch HD Theater 500 surround sound system from Newegg for my newly remodeled basement and a LG 60 inch Plasma. Upstairs I have a 4 year old 50 inch Plasma and a $2500 Bose system, all-in-all it compares quite well with the much more expensive Bose.

I’ve only had this system installed for a couple of days and I’m still messing with settings and menus; there are a lot of them, so I am still in learning mode.

Overall I was quite impressed with the Klipsch speakers and Sony AV receiver. Most of the issues with the receiver are nits and I knew about them prior to the purchase. The basement in my house is large and this is system is probably on the small side (especially the subwoofer) but again at the levels I like to listen to this sounds quite impressive. But if you want to blow away your your friends with how this will shake the walls this is probably not the receiver or speakers for you. But if you want an economical system that works well

Overall a solid receiver 1/30/2010 7:44:48 PM

Pros: I am very happy with with this receiver. I was looking for one that would use the sound from the HDMI cable and didn't break the bank. I did some serious homework when I purchased this unit. Overall I am very happy with the sound (Decent speakers). Some of the short comings listed on other reviews are documented so they should not be a surprise and are very minor if you know what you want out of your receiver.

Cons: *Does not decode in TrueHD sound- but this is well documented and your blu-ray player can do this for you.
*No on screen display- again, documented and I found it easy enough to set up. I admit I was confused by the menus for a short time but I was able to set everything up in about 30 minutes (after wiring and speaker placement).

Overall Review: Bottom line - you get a well rounded 5.1-7.1 receiver that will not disappoint.

Sent away for repairs 1/24/2010 9:32:37 PM

Pros: Sounded great in 5.1 surround while I had it. Very clear sound and amazing power. Had it hooked up to my ps3 via hdmi and watched a bluray movie in dts master-hd over lpcm and it was unbelievable. I could only turn the volume up to 33 or else it was unbearably loud! Very impressed with the short preview I saw of this receiver.

Cons: Sent back to Sony repair in Texas due to bad left rear surround channel. Has been gone for about a week now and I'm waiting to find out whether or not it will be repaired or replaced. Unfortunately, it was just outside the 30 day return period for new RMA, so now I have to deal with Sony's support.

Overall Review: I was very surprised to see the review before mine had almost the same problem. Hoping I don't get a refurbished or pre-owned product. Never really had a problem with Newegg before, but I don't consider this to be their fault. It seems to be Sony's fault.

First unit bad, replacement from "RMA Warehouse" 1/22/2010 9:37:25 AM

Pros: The replacement unit works.

Cons: The first unit I received had a bad channel.

Overall Review: The first unit I received had a bad left front channel. The replacement works fine but was shipped from the "RMA Warehouse" so I think it was a previously sold and returned unit. I've bought from Newegg for a long time but this will be my last purchase from them.

1/14/2010 7:04:22 PM

Pros: I've setup many professional and custom audio applications that costs much more money, and for the price of this receiver, it performs just as well as the high end receivers.

Cons: Only a few HDMI inputs, but there's not a receiver with more than 5 out right now. No onscreen menu.

If Not For One Major Flaw 1/14/2010 2:22:29 PM

Pros: Plenty of connectors for up to (I believe) seven different devices.

Cons: There is *NO* conversion between standards (HDMI, component, and RCA). For example, if you use an RCA input, you *must* use the RCA output to view that video feed on your TV; the HDMI and component video outs will be blank. For me, that means having all three cables running from the receiver to my TV and constantly switching inputs. Thankfully my universal remote supports macros!

Overall Review: This is a great box for a brand-new home theater, when all devices share one standard. But if you prefer incremental upgrades like I do, mixing and matching is a total pain! And, of course, if all devices share one standard, you may find yourself short on ports (as others have complained of).

Great Receiver 1/13/2010 4:33:06 PM

Pros: Does everything I need it to. I'm only running a 5.1 system and Blu-ray and a Dish receiver through this unit so it more than does the job! Having 3 HDMI inputs on a unit at this price is more than sufficient and fits my needs perfectly. The price was excellent and Newegg service and fast, FREE shipment are the reason I come back time and time again. Very happy with this choice of product AND with Newegg!

Cons: none!!

Overall Review: Having both my tv AND Blu-ray player both being Sony as well makes using the one-touch Bravia feature great! The fewer remotes I have lying around the better!
