Will this support a turntable/phno?

Not unless your turntable has line level output.  I have an Audio-Technica ATLP-60, which has a switch to change the output from the old standard phono output to a line-level output.

Is there a remote control with this Sony unit?

Yes there is a remote. This AM/FM Amplifier works great with the Sony speakers (2- interior speakers pair) and (3- interior speaker pair)  I use all four speakers the 3 speaker one's are taller nearly twice as tall.  Still this sound system is better than spending $500 dollars for sound bar or so called Home Theater System made out of cheap plastic.  The Sony speakers are in black wooden boxes and have good sized magnets attached to the cones.

Question 3

I bought this because the description said it had a front mimiplug input.  It does not, the plug on the lower left is a phones output for headphones, there is no other input or output on the front.  Where is the miniplug input?

The mini plug is on the left rear side of the chassis. I used a short mini plug male to male cable to bring it out the front to plug my iPod in, the sound is very good. The cable is not noticeable. Hope this helps.

Is this compatible with an onkyo compact disc player?

I don't see why not. You will have to plug into tape input! Because these units do not have a CD input! But not to fret. The tape input is also a Magnetic field! You will still get a perfect 20-20,000 response! I just Love mine, but I have to be careful not to crank it up to High! I run some vintage JBL's Rated at 75-
Watts RMS. This amp will BLOW THEM! So be careful with the power.

where on the unit is the location for hooking up speakers?

There is a block of + - wire connecters on the back of unit.  Must be bare wire, push on button to connect.

can i plug my ipod into it?

Yes.  There is a "portable audio" input jack on the rear panel of the receiver for this purpose.  Unfortunately, it is on the back and therefore inconvenient.  However, you can purchase an audio extension cable that will reach to the front of the receiver.

Question 7

I want to hook up two Kenwood (80 Watt Max each) speakers.  Are the speakers too low wattage for this 200 watt receiver?  Don't want to blow the speakers because they were great sounding with the receiver that I am replacing.

This receiver should be just fine for your needs. The wattage rating refers to the maximum power that the receiver can output. You want the receiver to be roughly equivalent to the power rating of the speakers. Since your speakers are 80 watts each, and the 200 watt output of the receiver is split between two channels, this is an ideal setup. It is always better to get a receiver rated for more wattage than your speakers because that leaves you room for upgrades and ensures that you can get the maximum out of your current speakers.

You want to make sure that you don't overdrive the speakers however by turing up the volume too high or else you will risk blowing them out. (This would be the case for most receiver/ speaker combos)

I want to connect my Andoid phone (LG Optima) and play music apps on this. Will this support an android phone? If it does what additional cable will I need for this?

It sure will, but very basically. You need a "stereo mini plug" (3.5mm) to connect your phone. Plug one end into the phone's headphone jack and the other into the receiver's "Portable In" jack on the back. Select the portable source on the receiver. Make sure your phone's headphone volume is turned up. 
Search Newegg for stereo mini plug and you'll get a lot of different options for length. Make sure to get a cable that is 3.5mm on both ends. Avoid any "headphone extensions" or "RCA" cords (wrong plug type).

Question 9

I have a pair of polk audio speaks. Can they be hooked up to this amp? Do I have to purchase any addtional wires? Please advise

Yes,
You will need to purchase speaker wire. I would recommend using 16 gauge speaker wire, which you can find online or an audio store. Try to use only the footage you need for each speaker so you do not jeopardize sound quality loss.
Buy wire that is color coded so you will be able to connect the positive and negative correctly between the speakers and receiver.
Also check the RMS rating on the speakers to see if they handle 100W per channel. If not be careful with the volume level so you do not damage them if you turn them way up.

Question 10

Is there any way to keep the unit from going into standby mode so you do not have to unplug and reset it? The unit is attached to speakers only to listen to FM and Ball games. It's a pain to reset all of the presets every time I turn it on.

There are two "Standby" modes on this receiver -- regular standby and "Auto Standby."  You can disable or turn off the Auto-Standby mode, but not the regular standby mode.  When you turn the receiver off, it goes into the regular standby mode and this cannot be disabled (or at least I have found no way to do so).  Auto-Standby mode can be disable by using the receiver's remote control.  Press "Amp Menu" and then scroll through the options until you see "Standby." Select that and then scroll through the two modes (Auto-Standby and Standby Off) and select the "Off" option.  When the receiver goes into the regular standby mode, its memory stores all the presets so that when you power the receiver "On" again they should all be there.  If your receiver fails to store presets when in the regular standby mode, then it has a defect and requires servicing.
