what's the front face like - is it really smooth/glossy? or is it more matte/textured? i need one with a textured face to match the front of my case.

It's matte black but smooth rather than textured, I have the cooler Master haf lanbox and I think it matches with that well enough! Good luck finding exactly what you need!

This bracket should be compatible with any 3.5" device. It's simply an adapter to go from 5.25" to 3.5". I bought it because the case I had didn't have any external 3.5" bays. I put in a Roswill flash card reader. It worked fine.
