Mount a 2.5in SATA hard drive to any computer with an available 3.5in bay. This Serial ATA hard drive mounting kit allows you to install a 2.5in SATA hard drive in a 3.5in drive bay.
The 2.5in to 3.5in SATA hard drive mounting kit features a sturdy aluminum bracket, as well as a combined 7+15 pin SATA + LP4 Power to SATA cable - which helps simplify installation and reduce clutter within the computer case.
Pros: Got a couple of these for computer builds where case does not have a 3½ drive bay and needed one to mount card reader in these work great and look right in case like they made for it not flimsy cheap plastic
Cons: I wish all cases had at least 1 3½ drive bay but they getting away from them getting harder to find good case that makes people happy they so fussy these days
Good bracket adapter with two problems4/17/2013 9:55:36 AM
Pros: The color and overall fit of the adapter is pretty good. The adaptor is made of a thick soft nylon/plastic and seems durable. The face has a nice texture so its not just shiny or dull smooth black. My 69-in-1 memory card reader fit into it just fine, and the adapter fit into the computer case just fine as well. The adapter came with 4 pointed tip coarse thread screws that are NOT for mounting your 3.5" device to the bracket, but which are instead for mounting the adaptor to your case.
Cons: The shape of the adapter does not lock in place in the tool-less bracket in my corsair 500R case. The left side locked in, but the right side was not secure at all so I had to use one screw on the right side. Here was the second problem, the adaptor is pretty soft plastic which should make it easier to fit into slightly non-standard cases, however it also makes it hard to install the mounting screw since the adaptor just bends away from the screw. I had to jam my hand into the case to push the adaptor out from the inside, to get the mounting screw threaded in.
Overall Review: Overall I would buy this again and recommend it, just don't expect tool-less mounting brackets to work and be patient when putting in the mounting screws due to the flexibility of the adaptor plastic.
Pros: Includes a molex to SATA power+data cable. Hefty stamped steel with bottom clearance.
Cons: There is no molex to SATA power cable by itself. The bottom hole spacing for 3.5" doesn't match standard 3.5" drives. This kit does not help mount 2.5" drives in the Athenapower drive backplane tray assemblies. The connector spacing is offset. You will need to buy a 2.5" backplane assembly instead.
Overall Review: For the price I would have at least expected standard screw spacing for bottom-mounting.
Pros: Does the job / fits in my CoolerMaster no screw case /
Cons: I wanted metal but I'm settling, as the return shipping would be to much for this cheep plastic part!

Simple alternative to expensive trays8/4/2009 5:11:31 PM
Pros: Useful little buggers. They do what they're designed to do. They're cheap compared to drive bay trays, but still expensive.
Cons: A bit on the expensive side for what amounts to punch-pressed steel and a handful of screws.
Overall Review: The screws are in fact, two different sizes. The slightly larger screws hold the drive to the bracket, and the slightly smaller sized screws fit the bracket to your case.

Used for Intel X25-M 80gb SSD in a Tt Armor+ VH60002/11/2009 5:45:32 PM
Pros: The Intel X25-M 80gb SSD bottom screw holes DO line up to the slot holes on the bottom of the bracket (Use 6-32x3/8" or less with a slightly larger head than normal 6-32s or with washers). The bracket screw holes on the side line up perfectly into my Tt Armor+ VH6000 3.5" drive cassette using the two sets of holes farthest toward the front (Use 6-32x1"or less).
Cons: The price with shipping is far too much for this bracket. The cable it comes with is useless in a desktop. Ship the bracket without it and lower the price.
Overall Review: The bracket does come with screws but I didn't notice this until after I installed the bracket and drive.
This bracket does what it's supposed to do without problems so it gets five eggs.
Cons: Only with NE's pricing. StarTech will sell you this for a retail price of $12.99. How can a distributor be selling a product like this at higher than retail? Others, including the computer store near me, are selling it for $5.99.
Overall Review: NE has dropped the ball on this one. Buy elsewhere. Should have checked the local store before purchasing from NE.
