Hola,

I just got this adapter for my work computer (Lenovo Thinkpad T520) so I can have 3 independent screens (2 x external + my laptop screen). I've had it for 3 days and so far it's working fine connected to my 2nd external monitor via USB to VGA.

My laptop does not have a USB 3.0 port and neither does my docking station.

Even if I switch to a ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0, apparently the USB 3.0 port will still function as a USB 2.0 port (according to specs on NewEgg)

There is an option for me to get a USB 3.0 ExpressCard adapter.

My questions for you experts:

1) even though this seemingly works fine w/ my USB 2.0 port, am I missing out on any substantial performance capabilities by not using the USB 3.0 transfer rates?

2) what are/would be the major differences/benefits of connecting via USB 3.0?

3) your recommendation?

The adapter works pretty well for my 2009 MacBook Pro... it only has 1 Display Port / Thunderbolt adapter so I needed this device to add a second external monitor.

For editing code or debugging webpages it works great, but not so much for watching video. Noticeable lag and choppiness when moving windows around... but this doesn't really bother me for web development purposes.

However, I attribute this behavior to the port on my laptop being USB 2.0.

Will it work with MAC OS X?

Works with my 2009 13" MacBook Pro... however the laptop only has USB 2.0 so the performance is kinda choppy. Works fine for text editing, document editing, or web browsing. Video suffers, don't even think about playing games with this thing.

I want a cheap solution to upgrading my graphic card on my laptop, without having to buy a new computer to do so. Will this give me better gaming capabilities? I'm not looking for anything extreme, just something that will give me a slight boost. My laptop has an integrated graphic card, with only 32 MB of video ram, and I'd like to boost that to at least 512 MB. And if this product won't do the trick, what will?
