Can I use this product on my docking station, to add two additional monitors, and extend my displays to show different two different programs/applications on the monitors. I want to be assured that the laptop won't extend the same application to both, since it connects to a single usb port on the docking station?

I have this setup on an HP docking station using USB 3.0 to a port on a HP Spectre. Works great for one of the monitors as documented with the device. One monitor is at 2650 X 1440 and the other is at the full 4K, 3840 X 2160.

Will it work on a mac?

Unknown, I do remember reading that it may in the documentation, I use Windows.

Is this USB 2.0 compatible?

I ran mine on both 2 & 3 so Yes.
