The StarTech.com VS421HD20 is a 4-in-1 HDMI switch for connecting up to four sources to one display, making it suitable for home entertainment or desk setups that need 4K at 60Hz, automatic switching, and included IR remote control.
Recommended For
- Office or classroom teams that connect several HDMI laptops or media devices to one shared 4K60 projector or display and want to switch sources without moving cables.
- Home-theater users with up to four HDMI 2.0 sources—such as a 4K Blu-ray player, streaming device, and consoles—sharing one 4K60 TV input.
- Desktop users who need to route an HDMI 2.0 computer signal through a switch while retaining support for 4K60 and 4:4:4 chroma, provided the display and cables also support that signal.
- Digital-signage operators who alternate between several HDMI playback devices on a single screen rather than displaying multiple sources at once.
- Users who prefer simple source selection can use automatic switching when a device is turned on, or select an input with the included IR remote or front-panel button.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- When a TV has only one available HDMI input, connect a game console, streaming box, and Blu-ray player to the switch and select which one appears on the TV without repeatedly swapping cables.
- In a living room setup, keep several HDMI sources connected and use the included IR remote to switch between them from the viewing area; compatible sources and displays can pass video up to 4K at 60Hz.
- In a meeting room, connect presenters’ HDMI-equipped laptops to a shared projector; users can select a source with the remote or front-panel button instead of reconnecting cables between presentations.
- In a classroom, leave multiple HDMI source devices connected to one projector and switch between them during a lesson, so the display can be shared without changing the projector’s cable connection.
- For a 4K media setup, connect a UHD Blu-ray player and other HDMI 2.0 sources to one display; automatic switching can select a newly activated source, while the remote and front-panel control provide manual selection.
