If I had two of these, can I use the esata connection between them?

no , you need a  PC to connect the external hard drive to it then use the eSata connection to read / transfer data to anew hard drive you have hooked to the PC (external or internal)!!!

Does this doc support TCG commands for self-encrypting drive functionality?

I only use this device for nightly backups taken offsite in the morning and have never tested TCG. I want to say "it should" but feel the best resource to answer your question would be StarTech support. Even then, I would take that with a grain of salt until I have the device in my hands and can actually test the functionality of TCG. I would never compromise security on the word of a third party if the data contained on the drive requires it. Newegg's excellent return policy should cover any issues, save a minor loss in productivity a return would cause.

is the maximum hard drive capability 2 tb on this...? If so, do you have one that takes 3 tb drives...?

This thing should be able to read 3TB drives.  If not, return for refund.

Question 4

Does this device (or others like it) recognize disc partitions?  Does it allow the user to partition individual drives? Can the clone function be applied to a partitioned drive?

When connected through USB it acts as an internal drive and therefore all the tools and programs work just the same.
