Assuming the source drive is a 750gb 2.5 SATA and my intended target drive will be a 500gb SSD, and that the SSD has more than enough capacity for the data now on my 750- will this unit clone my 750 to the 500? A larger source then target drive size difference is mentioned as a restriction with some of these other units. I am interested in this particular model.

We have found with this drive that if you use the drive image part of the device - go from one drive to an image then from the image to a drive it will work. This device will store the image for you. If you use the same size drive then it will duplicate.

This model has done everything that we need it to do and we have been very happy with it so far.

Will this unit with different sized hard drives? I know a lot of them the target drive needs to be same size or larger then source drive. If your only copying data which is less gigs then entire drive,  target drive should should not have to be same size.

sata only either 2.5 or 3.5 variant,, either ssd or regular hdd.  I am reading this from the specifications and validating this by looking at the pictures.  You should give it a try some time.
