Pros: Works as advertised. Windows recognized immediately and installed drivers. I was able to get data off an old IDE drive I had laying around and a newer SATA drive.
Cons: Cost is almost twice as much as similar products. I bought this one because it had the best reviews.
Pros: High quality and build, has worked with every drive I threw at it. Sata, IDE, Pata, all worked seemlessly with out any hiccups. All drives detected as an external USB. This is a must have tool, if you need to do HDD repairs or even cloning to swap to a bigger one. Didn't even need to install any drivers. All detected through xp/ vista.
Originally purchased this over the others just solely on looks of the power cable and design of the adapter itself, and I wasn't disappointed at all. Great product and build don't let the other reviews fool you!! Of course there will be a couple of bad apples out of the bunch but newegg will surely take care of those.

Absolutely the Best IDE/SATA to USB10/18/2008 9:12:34 AM
Pros: Quality product, the best power supply for this type of device out there. The 2.5" adapter fit into a Dell laptop drive while still in its tray. If you're an IT guy, this is a must have for your bag of tools.
Cons: Price, otherwise none.
Overall Review: It is worth the money, it's a solid product. I have bought 2, one for the office, one for the tool bag.
Pros: Work on this Laptop HD 2.5in drive that I have from friend that wanted me to extract the information from it. Followed the directions and works just like an external drive.
Pros: Pretty simple to set up. Uses native driver in WinXP.
Cons: Manual is a bit basic. Seems to be a bit overpriced. Startech website is essentially useless.
Overall Review: I had some initial difficulty getting XP to recognize an ide drive. This turned out to be my own darn fault as I forgot to use a jumper to configure the drive as "master". Once I did that, the device worked just fine.

Exceeded Expectations1/7/2009 3:48:37 PM
Pros: Small, nothing unecessary. Works like a champ and hooked up 2 ide drives and a sata drive [at different time] and each time it worked better than I expected. I have had other similiar products but this one is especially well built with strong cables and design. After looking at others I would say this is the one. 6/5
Cons: None
Overall Review: The power cable is sort of short but I encountered zero problems in using it, just a thought.
Pros: Connects laptop, and desktop hard drives. Both sata, and IDE compatible. Seperate power connectors with on/off power switches.
Cons: None
Overall Review: If you do any work on computers that you need to test a hard drive, you need this. If you do any data recovery...You need this.
