Question 1

On the manufacturer's and other sites, this model is listed as a proprietary UIO add-on card. Newegg however lists it as PCI Express. Can someone confirm whether or not this can be used in a PCIe x8/x16 slot on a non-Supermicro motherboard?

Yes - is uses a completely standard PCIe connector, but you'll notice that the components are mounted on the "other" side and the bracket is offset the wrong way. If you take it "as is" and try to mount it in a standard PCIe slot it won't fit.

You must use a "standard" bracket from another board that might fit - then you can replace the bracket and it will at least fit into the slot. Or just remove the bracket and install it without one (which is what I did). But if you do this the components will be facing the components side of the card in the next slot. If the next slot is empty, its OK but it can cause cooling problems if the slot is used.

I have currently 2 cards installed in my Z97-WS mobo.

Question 2

Is there any way to have windows 10 detect this, I have a gigabyte gaming 7 Mobo, and I can not seem to figure out how to get this to show up in windows10, any help much appreciated?

This is not a Windows problem, it is a hardware problem.  I installed one in a server motherboard and if I remember correctly, the configuration is done during bootup by hitting Ctrl-C or something.  Windows will just see the array (s) that are configured as disk drives if it is configured properly.

Question 3

The question I have is about the way the card implements the raid 10? is it true raid 1+0  or is it like the intel motherboard that is 0+1? I want the security of more drives being able to fail before the data is lost.

(Wikipedia) RAID 1+0: (a.k.a. RAID 10) mirrored sets in a striped set (minimum four drives; even number of drives) provides fault tolerance and improved performance but increases complexity.
The key difference from RAID 0+1 is that RAID 1+0 creates a striped set from a series of mirrored drives. The array can sustain multiple drive losses so long as no mirror loses all its drives.[19]
Supermicro offer a plug-in upgrade to raid 6,60 if drive reliability is an issue.

Supermicro has mechanical problems when installed in a standard PC. The face plate needs to be removed and replaced with a 3com NIC faceplate. The bottom mounting hole is perfect. The upper mounting hole requires the use of a kep-nut (a nut with an integrated star washer).

I am using only RAID0 with SSP, STP, SMP capability for use with SAS2 expander. I hope this helps.
