No.  It only comes with the back plate that fits the case and several SATA cables.   No printed manual is included either, but you can download the most current manual from Supermico's web site.   Same for chipset drivers.  At least you will be getting the most current stuff that way.

What RAM are you using with this MOBO?

Can this board be used with non-ECC memory?

The manual (v1.1a) states:

The X10SAT supports up to 32GB of Unbuffered (UDIMM) DDR3 Non-ECC 1600/1333/1066 MHz in 4 memory slots.

Question 4

The Specifications list SATA  8 x SATA 6.0Gb/s  AND Additional SATA 2 x SATA 6.0Gb/s - Assuming TOTAL of 10 SATA Ports.  I'm guessing this is where the board name comes from x10 SATA

However the picture only shows 8 TOTAL SATA Ports.  A web search is unclear.

How many SATA Ports are on this board?
If there are 10, where are they located?

There are only 8x SATA3 (6Gbps); 6x SATA3 via C226 and 2x SATA3 via ASM1061. The technical specs on Newegg have been updated recently and are incorrect.

Question 5

Will ECC memory work only if you are using a CPU with on chip graphics? What CPU are people using who are using ECC memory? I purchased Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Server Memory and Xeon 1231 V3 CPU and I cannot get the system to post. Done extensive troubleshooting, have a working video card installed in PCI express #6. Only get 4 beeps.

I believe I used this memory and it worked correctly. I think it was Crucial part number CT2KIT102472BD160B.  I also used 32gb of Kingston ECC non-buff RAM successfully.

One thing to realize about this motherboard is that the number of beeps relates to how many USB devices are plugged in at POST. This was not documented anywhere but confirmed both empirically and by SuperMicro support. This drove me crazy during my initial setup because I was convinced that the variable number beeps meant something was wrong with my system.

I don't see anything immediately wrong with your configuration: I have used an E3-1270 and an E3-1230 with this mobo.  From Intel ARK it looks like the 1231 supports ECC.

I would suggest contacting SuperMicro support but I would also suggest you confirm that your video card is working. Perhaps you can borrow another card for testing purposes?

Question 6

Will the X10SAT-O work out of the box with the newest Xeons (Haswell Refresh) CPUs, like the E3-1276 v3? Or will it require an older chip to update the BIOS?

I don't see why it wouldn't, so long as the pin-set didn't change. According to intel, it's listed in the same family as the chips from Q2'13. I highly doubt any major feature changes were made to the instructions, so the BIOS should be able to talk to the processor without an issue.

Question 7

Does this Board have IPMI support? It's listed in the description, referenced but not described in the manual, and not shown on the quick reference sheet.

No it has dual Intel NICs, no IPMI.  Rock solid ESXi board though.

Question 8

I'd like to know if anyone is using this board as a server with CentOS (6.5 or 7), and if so, are you using the onboard RAID controller or just Linux software RAID? The Supermicro compatibility list shows Intel RAID not working with CentOS, but I find that hard to believe if it works with RHEL (since Redhat EL and CentOS are 99% the same).

I don't use the built in RAID controller and I'm not running CentOS, but some answer might be better than no answer. I'm running Ubuntu and here is some output that might help your research.

If Supermicro claims it works with RHEL, I'd be very confident that this would work just fine in CentOS, since as you point out they're 99% the same with most of the differences being cosmetic.

Question 9

This motherboard has DVI and VGA port, Does it mean no need to buy and use video card, as it has video card built-in ?

I believe that if you have a CPU with embedded video, then you don't need to buy a graphics card.  If your CPU didn't have embedded video, you'd need to either redirect the serial console or buy a video card.

The board does *NOT* have discrete video.

Per SuperMicro's website:
"A Graphic Integrated CPU is required to have the on-board video functioned. Examples: E3-1265L v3, E3-1275 v3"

Question 10

What size case are we putting this in? I'd rather not put in an ATX, but have no experience with server chassis.
