Can someone briefly explain to me the difference betweenX9DA and X9DR series? I'm planning to get a pair of E5-2665s and not sure which series of these motherboards to use.

There really isnt a specific difference between X9da and X9dr. There are differences between each model of motherboard as far as what slots they have. When i was researching these boards for our CAD station it seemed that the X9da's were more workstation oriented and the X9dr's were server oriented. But that was just a general feeling I had comparing all of the models.
