What memory part number on newegg is good for this board and what kind of heat sink do i need to use? Thanks

I used "SAMSUNG 16GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Registered DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Server Memory" (also not available any longer). It works, but I wasn't able to get it working in the optimal configuration. Most of the RAM is closer to one of the CPU's. So the majority of my 64GiB is closer to CPU1.

For the heat sink, I got "ARCTIC Alpine 20 Plus CO CPU Cooler - Intel LGA2011, 92mm PWM Fan". CAUTION! This heat sink hovers over the CPU by an indiscernible amount. I had to remove the fans from the top and the retaining washer in order for the heat sink to touch the CPU. I would therefore not recommend this part unless it's the only one that will fit (which it was at the time).

What cases are available on newegg, that i can use to install this motherboard.  I have to admit the filters for the v3 products is none existent, and very frustrating.

also has anyone tried the sramm on this motherboard at all.  I got a 192 gig of G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model F4-3000C15Q-32GRK ?

No, X9 is for v2's with ddr3.  You would need a X10 motherboard and ddr4 memory to support v3 procs.

Can you verify which BIOS version ships on this board?  I want this for a new system build with ivy bridge (E5-2670 v2), but the v2 CPUs require motherboard v3 BIOS.

The version I received had the older BIOS.  It was a hassle :(  I had to get my hands on a Sandy Bridge Xeon in order to flash the BIOS.

When I called SuperMicro, the guy sounded surprised that I had an older BIOS.  He said they had been shipping for a while with the newer v3 BIOS and that maybe I had gotten one that had been sitting in stock at Newegg for a while.  I would say if you aren't 100% sure, either get a Sandy Bridge Xeon (and return it if needed) or else ask Newegg specifically if they can check.  Apparently the serial number will allow SuperMicro to verify which BIOS the board shipped out of the factory with.
