The answer is "yes". The snafu is the Syba SI-PEX40094 must load it's self first. Once the drivers load the the system loads much faster than SATA II so from start to finish it becomes a coin toss as to the quicker boot times. Hopes that answer your question.

How does a person enter the RAID bios to set up a RAID?  I've tried tab, control +M, F4 to no avail.

It simply adds  2 additional sata III ports to your system.

Thinking about buying two of these to upgrade two i7 PCs with USB 2. However I use two different hard drives in each PC one with Windows 10 and one with Linux (Zorin). I don't need to use the Linux drive connected to this as speed is fine. So I want to connect just the Windows 10 Hard drive to this. HOWEVER I read someone here had to disable their internal SATA to get this to work. I can't do that as I have a total of 3 SATA drives. I currently enable and disable the Windows 10 or LINUX drive in the BIOS on boot depending on which drive I want to boot. Is there an ability to disable the drive connected to this card (ON BOOT) so that my other Linux drive connected to the internal SATA would boot instead?

Got the cards today...Don't see a way when the card boots to enable/disable drives connected to it but it didn't matter as I simply  configured my Linux Drive and CD drive on the internal SATA ports 1 and 2. Then I just disable the Linux Drive on Sata 1 in the BIOS if I want the Windows 10 Drive to boot. The Windows 10 drive is hooked to the ASMEDIA (IOCrest) card and is designated SATA 3. It boots no problem to my already configured Windows 10 (AHCI) drive. I saw that the generic driver from MS from 2006 was loaded for it. At first I installed the Windows 7 (32bit) driver for the ASMEDIA 1061 from the included CD. This worked fine and showed the controller as the ASMEDIA Controller in Device Manager. I then went searching for an updated driver as the driver on the included CD is from 2011. I found an updated driver for the ASMEDIA 1061 ..Version 3.16 dated 6/17/2015.
I updated to that and it's working great. I uploaded it to my FTP server for people to DL but
Newegg's System won't let me put a URL here so just search for it...Cheers.

Question 4

Having trouble getting the card to recognize hard drive attached to card. Running Windows 8.  The card is being recognized on boot and drives do show up in Device manager.  The controller is not showing up in device manager and the drive is not accessible.  I am not sure if I am doing something incorrectly or not and would appreciate help?

I had it running under windows 8.1 it recognized it automatically. But now I upgraded to windows 10. Still working perfectly. I have it installed in the second PCI express x16 slot on my motherboard. The first slot is being taken by my graphics card.

Can this card operate in IDE mode rather than AHCI--the purpose being to attach a DVD drive to it that doesn't seem to work in AHCI mode?  Thanks.

A: Yes, this device is compatible with Windows 8.1 systems. Unfortunately not all optical drives are compatible with this device. We would recommend that you connect any optical drives to the motherboard SATA ports.

Question 6

Does it slow boot with a POST screen? I'm looking for something to control my tower's BD and DVD drives. Currently have them hooked up to a 2-port RAID card which is silly and adds about 8s to boot.

I am using my card for 2 additional hard drives, one of them as the boot drive. And, I haven't noticed any slow down at all. I hope this helps.

It is not a true Raid card, its raid attributes would depend on the software used to provide the raid function.

Has anyone done speed benchmarking with this card?
I know that PCIE 1.x will not support SATA III speeds, and is in fact slower than SATA II in most cases.  This card is 2.0 but also has 2 ports, which makes me think it will not achieve SATA III speeds, there's just not enough bandwidth per lane.
My motherboard has SATA II ports, and some free PCIE 2.x slots, will I really get the 6bg/s from this card?  Going to use for an SSD.

you don't get 6gbps on sata III.... that's just max through put.  i use this on a PCIE 2.0 1x slot.  it doesn't matter if you put it in a 1x, 4x, 8x, or 16x pcie 2.0 slot because it get the same speed in all those slots.  it's a pcie 2.0 1x slot card.
i'm using a Crucial 128gb ssd for my OS and the 6 sata III slots on my board for RAID storage.   it works well actually with just slightly slower speeds than what i got using my MB's sata III slots in AHCI mode.

this is using the MSAHCI drivers that come with windows.  It has it's own driver disc but i've yet to install the drivers for it.  i had one before and when i installed the Asmedia drivers for it, it increased it's speed significantly.  i'm sure it will on this one too.  i just haven't had the time and it's working well with the microsoft drivers.

Anyone use this with Linux? Mfg doesn't answer my questions on their site. Their description does say something about Mac and Linux only supporting up to 4 drives, but no mention if they have drivers or officially support the linux.

Their website only has drivers for Windows, but Clyde S. review on 9/30/2015 says it works on "Ubuntu 12.04LTS. No driver installation required. ...cached reads I get over 12 Gbyte/s on both the add-in card and the motherboard. Buffered reads ~189Mbytes/s." I'm don't know about 12 GB/s as SATA 3 is up to 6 GB/s, but sounds like it is getting SATA 3 speeds?

Hello,

It this card will add SATA ports to a computer.  Since this is a PCI-e part I assume you will already have some SATA ports but if you need more or need additional SATA features added by this card it will do the job.

In my case I needed this particular card to add AHCI mode enabled SATA ports to my PC and I needed it to have the low-profile bracket to mount inside a SFF computer.
