Question 1

Can I use the 2 USB ports, the 2.5 inch drive and slim optical disc all at once?  Are they each on a separate channel with their own connectors, are are any of them shared? (I'm worried the 2.5 inch drive bay is connected through the USB header).

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can use them all at once. The HDD is standard 2.5" SATA, the optical drive bay is completely open, and the USB ports connect to the internal USB 3.0 header on the motherboard.  You will however have to purchase a slimline optical drive power and data adapter separately to connect to the back of any slim ODD.  Search Newegg for "Slimline" or "Slim-line" SATA.

Question 2

Do I Need to purchase a slimline sata power adapter cable for this, so that I can connect to the motherboard's sata port and sata power cable from PSU?  or does this come with one?

The back is wide open to allow access to plug directly into what ever drives you put in the adapter. The cables that are part of the adapter only plug the front USB ports in to the MB. So I guess the answer is that you may have to by an adapter depending on the device. This is really just a frame with USB ports.

Question 3

I have an HP BD-ROM model ct10l and I'm concerned about the fit. It is thicker than most slim drives  at 12-13mm. Is the bay large enough for that size?

I am not familiar with HP products, but the slim OD drives I have are about 13.8 mm thick and 128 mm wide.  The front opening to this SYBA bay adapter is 14.5 mm high by 129 mm wide, so I think almost any slim OD drive will fit.
