I see it can cook up to 8 cups(raw) rice, but can it properly cook small batches, say 1 cup or less (raw) properly?

I feel like it does a good job with small amounts of rice. It has fill markers on the inside of the pot, comes with a small measuring cup, and the booklet has suggested water to rice ratios, though that would depend on your rice type.
