That is what I have in one of my home network systems now.  Depends on two things.  First is the Operating System your using.  I have run it on Win7 Profecional and on Win7 Ultimate "only".

Second thing is the mother board; for the first simple reason does it have 4 memory slots? Does the motherboard have a really fast chip set on it?

In some cases the CPU will make a difference as too the memory's full speed.  Some CPU's will max out of speed before you can get the real world speed out of the memory.

If the board is a good O/C (overclock board) you may see close to its top speed.

Your memory can never be to fast so I would by it even if your computer can not get the memory up to its full speed.  
You can use it in your next  computer build.  This memory is lightning fast.  Some CPU's will not use the full speed of this memory and the CPU can have set top ends of PC3 16xxx and PC3 18xxx.  With these CPU's by O/C the motherboard BIOS settings you can crank it higher.

I have been running a 200 watt, AMD 9370 CPU with O/C and love the 32gb of memory.
