Question 1

I can capture everything this camera sees that moves (motion detect)?      Or is that only a matter of buying capture software - what do you recommend for that?

Accepted Answer

Each time the camera detects a motion (or sound) in the areas you defined you will receive an email with 3 photos snapshots if you have set up the email service, or, you will get three pictures in your ftp server folder. Not sure how the improvement is if you buy a capture software.

Haven't got the camera to record the video.

Is this an outdoor camera?

I don't think this is for outdoor.
Case doesn't look to protect lens and PCB from moisture or rain drop.

Question 3

What powers the camera? Battery or phone line, or something else? If it's the phone line is there another way to power it?  If it is battery what is the battery life?  Is it possible to use in a vehicle and remote view.

Accepted Answer

The Camera comes with a standard 5V/2Amp wall-wart power supply, with a 5-6' cable. It plugs into the back of the camera, next to the Ethernet cable.

I guess it would theoretically be possible to power it in a car, and set up a mobile hotspot on a mobile phone in the car for the camera to connect to, but that's not what this camera is designed for.

Question 4

I have windows 8 on my PC will I be able to get the wireless picture?  I also have a Samsung galaxy 5 android phone will that work also?

You have to install an ActiveX control to see video on the desktop (IE or Firefox - you can't use current versions of Chrome at all).

I have managed to control the camera from some different tablet/phone apps, but only by selecting either Tenvis IPRobot V3 or Foscam FI9820W as the camera type. I could not get it to work by selecting Tenvis JPT3815W

Does this camera come with a mounting bracket in the box or is it sold separate?

There is a small mount bracket included that can be used to mount to a vertical or horizontal surface. The base of the camera has a standard tripod mount, so you have the option of using that as well.
