Question 1

Just to be clear, this product will connect to the back of our HD receiver from our Cable Co. and allow us to not have to have the cable box in the open AND allow us to change the channels from our remote controller?

I haven't used my TERK Leapfrog in this way but I believe that you are close to correct.  The Leapfrog does not need to physically connect to a device since it is simply relaying remote commands to the device.  The transmitter needs to be where your remote (for the device you want to control) can "see" the remote.  When you press a button on your remote, the Leapfrog transmitter  receives the IR signal, converts it to a radio signal, sends it over the air to the leapfrog receiver where it is converted back to an IR signal and transmitted to your stereo, cable box, etc. and where your command is executed.  The Leapfrog transmitter (the device you will point your remote at) must be in sight of your remote.  Your Leapfrog receiver must be in sight of your device (cable box). If your cable box can't be in sight (for whatever reason, the Leapfrog comes with IR stick on blasters to let you place the receiver out of the way.

In my application, I am providing radio (AM & FM) to speakers on my screened porch.  My stereo tuner/amp is in my attic and I use my Leapfrog to change stations, adjust volume and turn the tuner/amp off and on. Try to remember that you are just sending your remote control signal through the Leapfrog to your device.  The Leapfrog using radio signals allows you to control your device through walls and around corners.

Is this wireless?

Yes.  It converts your infra red remote signal to a radio signal that is transmitted over the air to your extender.  The extender converts the signal back to IR and transmits it to the IR sensor on your device (tuner, TV, etc.) It is important that you make sure that you use the IR receiver to receive the remotes IR signal and the IR transmitter to send the signal to your device.  If you get them backwards, it won't work.  The Leapfrog receiver and transmitter each has there own transformer that has to plug into an AC receptacle.  I use two of these devices and they both work very well when properly installed.

Question 4

Just to be clear this product will connect the back our HD Digital Channel Box from our Cable Co television provider.  So we can place this channel box in a closet 'not in the open' and this will allow us to change the channels on HD box?

Doesn't have to connect to the box at all. Put the transmitter in the room with you. The Terk receiver has to be in line of sight with the IR receiver on the cable box. I use mine to control a  HD receiver in another room. The transmitter is in the living room and the receiver is in the den about 25 feet away through 2 walls. Think of it as a remote control extender. It converts the IR signal into a RF signal to go through walls and back into an IR signal to change the channel. There is a front and back so make sure you have them pointing in the right direction.

will it control my amphlier from 50ft through a patio glass door?

Since this is essentially a radio to radio transmission between the two boxes, the glass will have very little effect in distance. Metal foil insulation in walls, or a metal filing cabinet ect between the two units will block signal. Metal foil is usually only used on outside walls, interior walls or glass/wooden doors have minimal effect. I have had mine for two years @ ~ 50' in two separate rooms works great.

Can I utilize this in 2 rooms in my apartment and setup so there is no interference?

the device works with infra-red, repeating signals from the original
source to the remote, and "talks" to each other with radio signals, then the conversion to infrared re-establishes its connection to the remote device. The radio signals will not interfere with hardly any appliances in the home . In short if there is interference either at the source or the remote device it probably will come from "other" infrared , remote controlled devices in either area, the extender will "repeat" whatever infrared it sees, to the remote area. The individual device should "filter" out any instructions not related to its operation . . .

Can you use two of these units in the same house without them interfering with each other?  Use one set in the living room and one set in the bed room?
