Is there a W7 product key on the machine?

Yes there is a W7 Home Premium Product key on the unit.  It is supplied by the Microsoft approved refurbisher and I registered it with no problem.  The system comes ready to be set up by the owner and they have to make their configuration selections and enter the product key.  Write it down on a slip of paper before connecting the unit.  It beats trying to read tiny print on the side of the box while typing in the product key.

I have purchased 4 of this model PC and have been quite happy with the clean condition and quiet operation.

I would like to know if you would recommend this for a home theater PC system? Thanks.

If you are concerned about the age of the supplied hard drive, you can pick up a 1TB 7200 rpm drive for under $50 and clone your small drive to it, then keep the small drive for backup.  That is what I did since it did not come with a Windows 7 disc.

To Anyone who bought this,  does it include windows 7 discs?  This seems to be hit and miss with refurbs

Question 4

1) What is the CPU, and 2) is Win 7 64-bit or 32-bit?

Since it says Core 2 DUo @2.13 Ghz. it is most likely the E6400.
Whether 32 or 64 bit doesn't really matter since they are interchangeable using the same product key (ie. download the other version or borrow an install disk from someone and reformat\reinstall the other if needed and using the same product key you can reactivate with the other bit format !) - only problem may be finding 64 bit drivers for some of the older parts but should be fairly easy.

Anyone know if the CD/DVD drive will still work if the computer is placed on its side (like a tower)?

It will work.  Just bear in mind that the DVD is a player not a burner.  Check the label on the drive.

Can I up grade this? I have 8 gigs that I would put in and also 1 of two video cards my current comp. doesn't allow for any expantions. Slots..

They put in a 32-bit operating system when they should have put in a 64-bit OS and the processor and motherboard is 64-bit. I have to deal with that Monday and find out why this refurbished unit has Win 7 32-bit instead of the Core 2 Duo having a 64 bit operating system.
The video card is one slot only for PCIe x16 no 2 wide cards.

Is this a quiet running computer?  I don't like a lot of fan noise from a computer.

If you require a heavy work load it will be noisy, but, Netflix, browsing, DVD movies, music the fan spins quietly and sucks air in right up near the front quietly.

Are there any available slots for a video card?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There is an open PCI and an open PCI-E slot. (See the photos.)

What's the maximum RAM this will support (2g being what's supplied)? Thanks.

Looks like it can support 4GB per slot, and the picture shows four slots, so 16GB total. DDR3, according to my sources.

How much to upgrade RAM and 64 bit Windows?

I upgraded to 8GB(after updating BIOS) around $55. Please note that the motherboard only accepts Low Density chips(256MB).

The product key included can be activated for 32/64bit Windows
