Will this convert (dub) my old VHS Disney movies to DVD? I hate to replace them all and would love to watch them with my little grandson. Thanks!

No.  The Disney VHS tapes are copy protected.  The DVD recorder will give you an error code.

There may be a way to dub from VHS to another VHS deck using RCA cords, but often commercial tapes have other anti-pirating encryption which will cause the video to fade in and out.
There is no way to know unless you try it.

But of course, you already have the VHS tapes...

Well, I wish I be of more help on this Marguerite M, unfortunately I bought this refurbed a while ago and haven't even got it out of the box yet.  Worse yet, the extended warranty I paid for has expired also.  But if I had to guess, I would say it does not have an SD card slot.  Have you checked the specs perhaps?

Does this unit convert VHS tapes to DVD-R?

Yes.  I've been doing it a lot.   Only issue is that it will convert them to a format that plays on the the machine only and if you don't go to the DVR Menu and "finish" the disc the converted DVD won't play on any other machine until you do.  A little bit of a nuisance, but for the price not a big deal.  It's been working GREAT for me so far.  I've had one VHS tape that had a copy protection on it that wouldn't convert, but so far the rest have gone without a hitch.

And of course, input from DVD discs and VHS tapes.

I have a lot of old VHS tapes of sons sporting events. I want to convert them to DVD. Can this unit be used to record from the VHS player to the DVD player internally. (Dubbing)? Will this one unit do what I want?

yes you can , make sure you set up right, follow de-instructions, you have to make sure finalize the disc, it not just popping in and dubbing, you can also record from T.V. to DVD, make sure you get right disc,  this machine only likes certain type

does it play PAL VHS ?

I would think so. The VCR just plays whatever signal is on the tape. If your TV is set up for a PAL signal there should be no problem

May I transfer VHS casset in to DVD ?

Yes, if the VHS is not copyright protected. If you are interested in copying your own created VHS tapes to DVD, I would suggest you use DVD -R DVDs since they are more compatible with a wider range of DVD players. This unit comes along with good documentation as to the process to be followed for transferring VHS to DVD.

what is an"externel tuner source" stated as needed for this product ?

I.E. A cable box or satellite dish receiver.  **Note, if you want to connect this item to either one of the above, you will need another set of "red, white and yellow" cables.  There is only one set provided, which you will use to connect "out" from the unit "in" to your TV.

This dvd recorder does NOT have built-in tuner.  There are other dvd recorders that do have that function...keep looking!
