As many as will fit in 42U. Each item you rack in this will have a U height that can vary from 1 to 4 typically. to answer your question 10.5-42 items depending on said items height.

I currently own this rack and am wondering if there is anyway to add sides to it? Part# ?

If you are talking about server slide rails then yes. All 5 of my servers are on sliding rails.
