Wiil not work with AmplifiHD.  It will connect via ethernet to ANY switch you like as long as you use provided POE Injector.

If you use it as a normal AP instead of a mesh AP then, yes you can. If you're thinking of using it as a mesh AP, then no. You need another Ubiquiti UniFi AP that is hardwired to act as the wireless-to-wireless mesh connection (RAP-root access point) and then the UAP-AC-M is the MAP (mesh-access point).

You will need at least one other UniFi AP wired to the network to act as the root Access Point, otherwise there is noting to mesh to. By the way, you also need a UniFi controller. UniFi devices are not configurable by themselves.
