Does the PC with the server software need remain on for the AP's to continue to function?

Perhaps I need to answer somewhat more clearly. The system with the Unifi software only has to be on if making modifications to the AP settings or to update firmware. Once you do the initial setup and its performing to your satisfaction, you'll rarely need to access it with the GUI. Hope this helps.

Question 2

Dose this come with a power injector for non-POE applications?????

My first time using POE so not sure about your question, but there is a power source.  Ethernet from router to small power source box (power from wall is connected to this box).  Another ethernet from power source box to AP.  So, I'm guessing that the power source box is the power injector and providing the power to the AP.  My router is definitely NOT providing the power.  Whether it will work for non-POE application, unknown.

Does the software need to be running on the controller computer at all times?

Install the software to configure the unit. However, once it has been set up, you can uninstall the software if you wish. You can also configure it directly through the IP address and not install the software at all. This unit is exceptional and covers a huge area for wireless access.

I have a building 240 feet from netgear 600 router , I can get a week signal , is this something I could just plug in to extend my range ?

No--these are Access Points and will not work as stations or repeaters

Is it ok to also have my router broadcast wireless signal once the Ubiquiti is connected, or should I disable wireless connections on my router? Do the signals interfere with each other?

It depends how far apart they are.  If they are fairly close (less than 50 feet)I would disable the connection in your router.

Question 6

Can I put one of these in the house with my laptop/modem/router and one 600' out in a "man cave" with no computer to bridge them? Or how would be the best set up?

I'm no expert, but I think if you have an Ethernet cable out to the man cave, then you could do it.  We connected it to a cable closer to our computer first, so we could get it set up.  Once we had the settings we wanted, we disconnected it and reconnected it to an Ethernet cable in the location we were using it in.

There is a good Ubiquiti forum which you might find helpful.  Just search for it.

Are these 2.4 Ghz or 5?

They are 2.4ghz. To be honest 5 ghz is worthless unless you're running an AC Network just because of range.

Does this have a gigabit ethernet port?

No. Only the pro version. But it handles traffic well.. There are no gigabit wireless adapters.(unless use A/C) I get about 40 feet before a bar drops off..

Can I use two of these to bridge two wired networks together?

Will the configuration software run on Linux (Debian)? I don't have any Windows or Mac machines on my network.

Question 10

Hi if I bought two AP's do they come with the software controller and PoE injectors? What would be the price for that?

The software controller is free but is a bit "janky" and runs as a Java app on a Windows PC that should be kept on at all times and should have it's firewall opened up to allow the necessary ports. If you don't tweak or turn off the firewall, the controller won't "find" the access point.

POE injector came with my unit. Other than the controller issues it's a great product and has excellent range and signal strength.
