Will This Work With A SSD Drive ?

Yes, as long as it's a 2.5in SATA. I have an ssd in mine. However you should check and make sure your motherboard supports hot-swapping sata otherwise you have to power down to insert or remove.

I've got a dead laptop that I've salvaged the hard drive from. Can I use this to house the hard drive and turn it into an external storage device?

I originally bought it hoping to use it for a removable boot drive but I could not get my computer to boot from it. probably because there is an interface board inside instead of plugging directly to the mobo. So  never have used it. I would think it would work fine fore a external storage as long as you are not trying to run an os from it but I am not sure. other than that it seems to be a well built unit.

Can I use this to recover two internal HD files from a dead pc? The hd is still intact. I just want my music, pics, videos from it.

You could as long as the drive is a sata drive, this makes a better backup device though. They make usb dongles that have multiple drive connectors that might be better for what you are looking to do.

Will it fit a 15mm thick drive, such as the WD20NPVX.?

And also: finding compatible enclosures for 15mm thick drives is very difficult. Lot's of people have this problem, searching. The manufacturer's say "OK with all 2.5" drives" but then, of course, that is usually not true.

I have to go with Yes...The 2.5" Form Factor is an industry wide standard.  Mounting holes and dimensions of all "Form Factor 2.5" drives should have no issue mounting into the Vantec.

I think you will be pleased with it.

Does it Support 12mm Height 2.5" HDD or Only 9.5mm  Height?

Not quite sure what is the correct size, but it handles just about any 2.5 hard drive Toshiba, WD, etc. I have used numerous makes with no problems. Have over six of these units in various PCs and many more cartridges which I use as swap drives. Good use for old smaller capacity hard drives. Have used up to 1TB versions with good results.

I bought the Rosewill model of this drive cage a year and a half ago. Does anyone know if the two cartridges are interchangeable?
