Yes, the enclosure comes with a USB Cable. Scott is correct it is the USB Type "B" Super Speed Cable. Make sure to connect it to a USB 3.0 port.

I never had any trouble getting it to work. A new drive will require that you go into the administrative section of Windows and create a primary partition. Also any partition software can do it for you if you are not familiar. This is true of any external enclosure. Once partitioned, then format. My 3 Gigabyte Seagate works fine.

What is maximum hard drive capacity?

I am using mine with a 2TB Drive and so far is working fine. I use it to backup my information.

Hello, This is a hard drive enclosure so you would need to remove the hard drive you want to recover the data from and install it inside this unit. Once the hard drive is inside the enclosure you can then plug it into a different computer and recover the files from the drive like a normal USB external hard drive. Hope this helps! Newegg Support
