The NexStarLX from Vantec is a multi-purpose enclosure. You can use it as a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device or as a standard USB 2.0 hard drive enclosure depending on network availability and current needs. When used with a network it can serve as an FTP and SMB server allowing remote access. The web based configuration utility makes data management easy.
Drive life is enhanced by the combination of smart cooling and a large passive heat sink. The heat sink continually radiates heat away from the drive. During heavy activity the fan powers on providing additional cooling.
This enclosure is plug and play ready, install the IDE drive (up to 750GB), plug it in and go. Everything you need is included, including a driver disk just in case. For storage and connectivity this combination is a great choice!
