The lights color resets when the light switch is turned off and defaults back to white until you edit your mood once again, perhaps this is an app issue. My question is, does leaving my light switch turned on with the light in the app turned off consume any energy? Im aware this light is bluetooth so it must have to have some sort of trickling or something, but would leaving the switch on and the light in app off consume any more energy than a speaker connected to the wall which also uses an app/bluetooth functionality?

To answer your question in realistic terms ... no.  Bluetooth technology consumes power any time it is on but the power is so slight that you could just as well consider it off in an A.C. power setting.  Bluetooth is an ultra low power technology. Sending 75 bytes of data would use approximately 2 kilowatts of energy, doing the same using a Wi-Fi component would require about 80 milliwatts. I am not sure a DrWatts measurement device would even catch the energy usage over a so for day period. If you have a Bluetooth device paired with your phone and turn on Airplane mode and just let them sit paired together and on then the battery drain would take a lot longer than you would ever expect.

My VeHo also defaults to white ever time it is turned off. I also go to the many saved moods and just pick one. Personally I like this bulb better than the TP-Link one we have. That one operates over the Wi-Fi but it slow to respond and the UI is too basic for my taste. The VeHo is my preferred bulb.
