Pros: Price was good on sale. Verbatim is a trusted brand. Came packed really well with the other part of the order. No damage to the cakebox or the discs.
Cons: As noted before, the cakebox stack as an odd smell. My stack didn't seem to be too obnoxious, but its a rather curious smell.
Overall Review: Not that much difference between DVD+R and DVD-R media as it seems to play on just about every DVD or Blu Ray player out there, so just get the best quality disc you can get on sale. NewEgg usually has the best prices out there with free shipping.
Pros: I first picked up a pack of Verbatim 16x DVD-R's that were way underpriced at Office Depot. I'd never burned a DVD before, so I thought these were one of the cheap brands. I made a coaster or two until I got my software under control, then I never again had a failure with Verbatim DVD-R. I've had failures with other brands though. Someone mentioned that the 16x Verbatim was only burning at 4x, and that is not the case with the last 3 stacks of 100 I've burned. I use the latest Lite-ON and Nero 6. I can burn a full DVD, and verify it, in 10 or 11 minutes total, with no failures. In fact, I always verify every one of my DVD's. Always. I estimate that I have burned close to 400 Verbatim 16x DVD's. Oh, and Verbatim makes awesome Dual Layer discs, too! They are the only brand I've successfully managed to burn and verify. Thanks Verbatim, and thanks Newegg.
Cons: Too bad I'll never find them as cheap as I did that one day at Office Depot. That had to be a mistake!
Overall Review: I guess it's possible that folks are getting a band spindle here and there. My guess, though, is that they are having other issues. I have actually ran into files that I could not burn on a data DVD. Not matter what I tried. I once burned 5 coasters in a row, tearing my hair out with installing/uninstalling Nero and Daemon Tools and whatever, only to find that I was trying to burn the same files in every case. Once I deleted a specific file - everything burned pefect. Very weird. I know that there are a host of problems one can encounter when burning DVD's, so having rock solid media is very very important. Verbatim is that in a nutshell.
Pros: I've been buying Verbatim DVD's for years and for the majority of that time they have been the most reliable with nearly no coasters and compatibility with even my first generation DVD player.
Cons: Last batch of 100 had defects in 17 consecutive disks in the spindle. You could see the defect (bubble/nick) on the same spot in each of the disks. I couldn't figure out why my burns weren't working and thought my drive might be going and then looked at the discs and saw the mark thinking my drive made it but then saw the mark on the blank discs as well. The imperfection was where the formatting burn area is located on the blank DVD-R's and that had a dead spot as well.
Overall Review: Still buying them and perhaps was just a fluke. Rated 4 stars rather than 5 due to recent issues with them.

Overall Review: Not Toyo's but darn good for the price = MCC 03RG20
Pros: Discs are great, high quality discs that burn fine in any decent burner with decent firmware.
Cons: Not a con against the discs, but against Newegg. Newegg has become greatly lacking in packing the items for shipping, just to save a little money. Instead of using the foam popcorn that they used to always use, they now only use crumpled brown paper. For most items, it would be fine, but for something heavy like a box of discs, it's completely unreasonable and caused my bottom part of the spindle to crack and break. This is unacceptable and newegg needs to change this NOW! This is the second time, recently that I've had problems because of cheap packing from Newegg and I'm about to my limit. One more time and Newegg will never see me as a customer again.
Pros: 13 left out of 100...not a single coaster! Buying another round when I finish writing this review.
Cons: Water rings on my desk.
Overall Review: Can't beat the value!
Pros: Solid, solid, solid. out of 13 spindles (that's 650 discs for you math gurus), I've had 2 coasters. EVER. That's a 99.7% success rate - unheard of, aside from Mitsui gold CDR's of the olden days. These are the best around, so don't waste your time trying and buying others.
Cons: They're not free for college students :)
Overall Review: Buy these and never look back.
Pros: Roxio shows they are rated at 18x instead of Verbatims listing of 16x. On my 2nd 100pk of disks, I got ONE COASTER, that was burned 2x higher that Verbatim's listed speed. A few dozen others were burned at 18x with NO problem. I usually tried to burn at 16x.
Cons: I wish they had the surface made for writing on the disk to ID it.
Overall Review: I've had nothing but good reliable service from my Verbatim DVD-r, CD-r, and some many year old DVD-RW and CD-RW disks.
