Is this DVD-R compatible with "lightscribe"? I have rec'd them - tried to burn 15 of them already and none of them burn. I have updated drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the programs, BELIEVE ME..for 3 days I have tried EVERYTHING. I need thse for Christmas gifts and am getting really bummed out that they won't burn..Please let me know soon if you would! THANK YOU!! PS. I have used Verbatim disks just like these numerous times before and that was why I ordered them again...But forgot to check to make sure they were lightscribe comaptible..THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! ~ Happy holidays

Unless blank media is specifically marked "LightScribe" it won't work, so the ones you have are fine for data but not for "LightScribe" labels. Is their a difference between azo and life series? I have gotten the life series before they worked ok, but i want to know if these are better or the same since they have different naming on them.

I have not tested the Verbatim DVDs, but I did test the Verbatim blu ray disks.  I have the printable LTH type BD-R and BD-R both 25 GB.  Both types worked well, but the BD-R did recored faster.  This was on an Asus drive.

want to put a label on - is the top of the disk printed / dark?

No, it's regular silver, like on a blank cd.  Plenty of room for a label or you can write on it with a permanent marker made especially for dvd/cd media.

What is the media ID code of these discs?

The media code tells you exactly who manufactures the DVD media regardless of brand. Some examples are: Ritek-F16, MCC004-000, MBIPG101-R05, CMCMAG-AM3, AML003-000, et al. It cannot be found on the disc packaging, it must be scanned from an actual disc using a utility like DVDidentifier, ImgBurn, or Nero DiscSpeed.
