Question 1

just bought this projector with a 60 X 80  100" 4:3 ration screen.  Was this the wrong size screen to get?  Should I return it or it will work?  I think 16:9 was what I was supposed to purchase.  Any quick answers would be most appreciated.

The 16:9 projector will still work on the 4:3 screen, but the projected size will of course be limited to the width of the screen (so there will be unused space in the top and bottom sections of the 4:3 screen).  A key question in selection of any screen is how big does the projected image need to be?  To rephrase that: how large should the projected image be vis-à-vis the physical location of the viewers?  This viewsonic model is very bright and has the ability to project a very large image (far exceeding the size of my tripod screen if I want to show details to a group of people in any setting larger than my small living room -- in which case perhaps a large pull-down screen (or a large white wall) is hopefully available).

Im looing for a projector for gaming PC, PS4, Xbox 1 and the like, is this satisfactory enough to support these activities?
the product states for office and classroom use, but the 3D and the 120hz refresh rate make me think different

I use it for PC gaming in my room, and it's a great fit for that application - very low latency, compact, no noticeable rainbows, good adjustment range, and at a good price point.  My one caution is to consider your throw distance and screen size - this seems to be designed for placing on a ceiling mount or in the middle of a room - I've recently upgraded to a monster screen so that I could comfortably project from my other wall, but was just getting by on the narrowest setting earlier.

What are you doing for audio options?

Run a 3.5mm male double-ended cable from the output jack on the projector to your sound system. Source audio comes from the HDMI input. Decent stereo sound. If you want 5.1 or 7.1 superior sound, you'll have to run optical audio cable directly from the source to your sound system bypassing the projector altogether.

Is this ceiling mountable?

Yes it can be - that's how I have mine installed.  However, you will need to purchase a separate ceiling mounting bracket to do this, but there are mounting screws on the bottom of this projector for that.  If you do this, the projector is actually mounted upside down, but the output image can be flipped by a setting on the projector to handle this.  This is a fantastic projector and the image projected on my wall at about 135" diagonal is incredibly bright as well as sharp and with the keystone adjustment is perfectly aligned.

Question 5

I have never used one.  Do I connect a USB cable or DVI cable from my laptop to it to watch Netflix and YouTube movies?  Can I use it instead of my TV for cable?

Your best bet is to couple this with an AV Receiver that can take multiple HDMI sources and send the output to the projector over a single HDMI cable. This does have VGA inputs if you just want to plug your laptop directly into it, but if you want to use it for a home theater, an AV Receiver is absolutely required, both for good sound and less wire clutter.

Can I plug a USB flash drive into this projector and play directly from it?

Negative, Ghost Rider, the pattern is full.  This projector is not that smart and it does not have a USB port.

Can this thing be mounted on the ceiling? I have tried to find something out there but nothing.

I have mine mounted on the ceiling, I purchased a very generic ceiling mount and it hooked right up. This one is very similar to what I am using.

What 3D Active glasses are compatible with this unit?

I have the same question when I first got it, so I called Viewsonic, they give a very official answer of "we only tested it with G25 glasses", which is selling for $100. I think it is just too expensive and I don't think it is necessary , and I found there are many G15 selling for around $13 on ebay, so why not give it a try. Wow, it works for this projector, so just save your money and get a G15 on ebay will do the trick.

Question 9

Will this projector support the native resolution of our current fleet of laptops? I see it supports 1280x800 and 1920x1080…but does it also support 1366x768 and 1600x900…we don't want to down our resolution for the laptops we have.

1280 x   800   is supported by PC and HDMI inputs.
1920 x 1080   is supported by HDMI, but NOT the PC input.
1366 x   768   is NOT supported by HDMI or PC inputs.
1600 x   900   is NOT supported by HDMI or PC inputs.

Question 10

Is the lamp on this projector user replaceable?

Of course.

If you are concerned about lamp life, in the "Standby Settings" section turn the "quick power off" to off.  This will run the fan for a few minutes on shutdown.  The default is to just turn off the lamp and fan at the same time.
