the discription states that this disc is white inkjet printable - I assume that this means you can print a label directly on the disc - what printer and software is needed to prnt the label?

You need a printer that has a special tray for printing on discs. Both Epson and Canon have several inkjet printers that can do this. Last time I checked, HP had none. Look in the product description for "CD/DVD printing."
