Will this card run all four displays simultaneously, in extended display mode, meaning all four displays can show a different screen?

Hi Frank,

Yes, it does do that (most of the time). It runs all four displays I have hooked up simultaneously in an extended desktop viewing environment. HOWEVER, this card is not as consistently functional as I would like it to be. We bought it because it was one of the only ones if not the only one that did not require extra power from the power supply in the tower, and was reasonably priced. Looking back now, we probably should have paid a little more money for a card that did require a little extra power, as that type card may handle the 4 simultaneously extended displays better. The only thing that really happens with this card is once in a awhile, it gets overloaded and either blue screens the machine and or just stops displaying on one screen and a reboot is required in either scenario to get back to all four displays functioning as they should. I have a dell computer.  I am interested in this card to operate 4 monitors independently.  how do I know if my Dell can handle this?  Do I need a larger power supply?  Can the current mother board handle this card if it has the slot for it?  I am not gaming. I will be using the WEb and Microsoft office stuff.

I installed this card in a newer DELL Inspiron PC running Windows 7 Pro. It uses a PCIe (PCI Express) expansion slot, but doesn't need a larger or special power supply. "I" found the hardware & software installation easy, and the connection of the four monitors a snap (the connectors ARE marked 1 thru 4, BUT you need a flashlight to see the numbers since they're molded onto the connectors plastic covers. I suggest putting your own lighter colored/easier to see markings on each connector. The monitors "should" appear exactly in the same order as the connector numbers when they're powered up, but I suggest a reboot to make sure Windows "sees" them all correctly. Screen #1 should be set to the MAIN DISPLAY with the multiple displays box set to "Extend these displays." You'll know immediately if they're connected in the correct order if the screen cursor moves from one screen to the other in the correct order (1- 4). The PC that had this card installed had Four EXACTLY THE SAME Dell 24" Monitors, and I had to check and make sure each monitor had the same screen resolution set. If you don't use four of the same model & size monitors you will probably have to "play" with the resolution settings to get the displays to look correct. Good luck.

Is it necessary to disable the existing video driver before installing this card and its driver? I'd like to be able to use my old machine in case the new card does not work.

I have an onboard GPU and did not need to uninstall driver. It is my understanding that the BIOS will read external cards first.

I'm planning to connect 5 monitors (1X19", 1X23", 3X24") to this card using four DVI-to-DVI and one miniDP-to-DVI cable. Can this be done?

A passive DP to DVI cable will not work, you need an ACTIVE DP to DVI adapter.

i hope to run 3 monitors at 2560x1660 resolution and one at lower resolution.,,will this do that?

YES! The Video Card has NO affect on Video Resolution. "Assuming" you're installing it in a Windows Computer; That's the function of, and controlled by, WINDOWS under CONTROL PANEL-All Control Panel Items-DISPLAY-Screen Resolution. It may be a bit tricky to set it up this way, but it's definitely doable.

Question 6

Does this card need a power supply connection? There is a small black box type thing near the bottom right edge (next to the fan - it is clear in the 3rd picture) - I am trying to figure out what this one is for.

Question 7

I am confused by the adapter. Does this product support extending the desktop onto 4 separate monitors or is it just 4 mirrored monitors?

Also, does this monitor support CrossFireX with dual video cards?

It can extend the desktop up to 5 monitors if you use the mini DP port as well. I am using it to extend 3x 24" 16:9 and 1x 25" 21:9 displays as my desktop.  It also supports Eyefinity.

None of the packaging or documents say it supports CrossFire and I have no way of testing that.

Be aware that the 4x DVI-D ports are single link not dual and support a max resolution of 1920x1200 each. Only the mini DP port allows higher resolutions.
