Does this item come with a wireless usb adapter?

It comes with a USB receiver that stores within the keyboard. It has a slim profile that works well on laptops or if you just want to hide it. It does require a fairly direct line of sight though and just aiming a bit off to the side causes it to lose connection.

What is the physical size of the device? I can not find that in the specs

Clarke, The approximate dimensions are 2 in x by 5 in by 3/8 inch. Been using this for awhile and am pretty happy with it.

We do not have it anymore. The on switch broke after about 3 months and would not turn back on. However, it was about 3" by 6".

It is quite small, literally the size of a candy bar.

how big is this keyboard?

It's pretty small about the size of a tv remote but much thinner. It will fit easily into your pocket and if you are used to txt messaging the keyboard works well mostly I justbuse my thumbs to type. The addition of a laser pointer really makes this a perfect tool for presenting from your pc/laptop. The only downside I have noticed is that the wireless widget works best by line of sight, if it's buried in the back of your system under a desk then the keyboard/pad can not roam as far. Hope this helps.

Does this work on Windows 8.1?

I used it with Windows 7, and have not used it with Windows 8.1. The unit's on/off switch broke within 3 months and completely quit within 6 months.

Is this remote combatable with Unbuntu?

Yes, It's compatible with Ubuntu but don't buy it. The range is terrible (seriously like 6 feet). Instead, you should buy one of the Lenovo mini remotes with a trackball.

Will this work with Linux? (Mint, specifically)

Not sure about Mint, but it worked for the cubieboard with factory stock android os
