are the remote speakers and sub woofer wireless?

The subwoofer and rear speakers are wireless from the the main soundbar  BUT the rear speakers are wired to the SUB.

You can have sound bar at the front of the room. Place the Sub in back and the rear speakers have wires that go into the sub.

The sub does NOT plug into the soundbar - that is the wireless part. Bang for buck it sounds great

Question 2

Hi, love the system, but have difficulty with the remote. Seems it only works when the slide out keypad is extended.  Is the normal?

It should work properly with the keypad slide into the remote but you have to be careful when you slide it in. The keys sit up far enough the outside buttons can come into contact with the body of the remote and change the input setting when you close the keypad. This is not a problem if you are using analog but if you like most people are using a digital\optical cable this will cause the sound to cut out until you open the remote and push the optical button again.

Question 3

The two speakers I plugged into the sub woofer only play background noise/music.  I get no voices out of them.  Is that how it is suppose to work?

Yes, that's the whole idea of 5.1 surround sound.  The rear speakers are only supposed to play sound that comes from behind the listener, which usually only consists of ambient noise (crowd noise or echoes, for example) and part of the music, unless a character is talking from behind the listener for some reason.

In this system, the two speakers plugged in to the subwoofer are supposed to be the rear speakers, so what you're hearing is exactly what you'd expect.  (One assumes they expect you to position the subwoofer beside or behind the listening position, so that the cords will reach behind you to the left and right properly.) The sound bar portion of this system handles the center, left front, and right front components of the soundtrack, as is the case with every soundbar--that's the point of them.

Maybe you were mistakenly thinking that the satellite speakers are supposed to be front surround speakers and the sound bar itself is the center channel?

Can this be wall mounted?  Or will the sound be okay just sitting on the floor in front of the TV? Also, how do I get the special ipod adapter?

To my knowledge, this isn't wall-mountable.  I just purchased it, and there were no bracket attachments for doing such, nor were there any pre-drilled casing holes or molded slots on the unit.
Since you need to plug signal and power to the bar, I wouldn't want it mounted to the wall, anyway.

The unit comes with pedestal feet that allow it to sit nicely on any level surface.  It should be fine on the floor, but for better sound/viewing, the tv and soundbar should be raised off the ground at least 3 feet or more (unless you have no way of setting the tv on a platform, of course).

Not sure about how to get the ipod adapter, since we didn't get one of those.  Call product support here at Newegg, perhaps?

What's the difference between model #VHT510 and S4251WB4?

More inputs and new style remote.

The 510 only had one optical and a regular stereo RCA L/R input. There is also a IPOD input on the 510 but a special Vizio Ipod dock is needed.

The newer S4251WB4 has bluetooth that allows audio streaming from other devices along with more inputs.

how old is this refurbished 5.1 Vizio Surround Sound System and is it covered by replacement warranty?
Also, how many inches wide is the actual sound bar itself?

Age unknown, but I believe the model was introduced in 2010. It is covered by neweggflash for 90 days replacement, but no money back because it's refurbished. It's  40'' end to end
